I obtained my social work qualification in ………. and have been employed by……….. since……….\n1.2\nI am authorised to carry out this assessment on behalf of the applicant and I do so from facts within my knowledge, information obtained from my colleagues or from children’s services department records.\n1.3I have been asked to complete an assessment of the ability of Child/ren’s name to provide good enough care. In particular:\n[List specific areas of need, risk that have been identified as being key for the assessment i.e. substance misuse, domestic abuse, neglect. Be specific but also include considering all aspect of the Framework for Assessment of Children and Need and their Families]\n1.4 In so doing I have considered the following materials:\n[List the documentation considered and any other sources of information such as discussions with contact workers, school, health, guardian, third parties]\nBackground\n2.1\nOutline here the purpose of the assessment. You should explain who is being assessed and the children that the assessment relates to, current circumstances i.e. are the child/ren in the care of the parents, family placement or foster care and include timelines i.e. with Maternal Grandmother since xx/xx/xx and under what arrangements. Limit to no more than one page.\n2.2\nYou should also include the context of the assessment, during child protection planning, pre proceedings or care proceedings. You should include a brief history of the family and reasons for current and historical involvement\nMethod of Assessment\n3.1\nHere you should explain how you have gone about collecting the information that has informed your assessment. You should detail how many visits you have carried out the dates and duration(this should be as described on you parenting assessment plan). Were there individual meetings, group sessions, observations, direct work etc? Were the parents given work to take away and reflect on/read/complete on their own?\nGenerally parenting assessments should be a mixture of observationsand interviews but the ratio can vary case by case. Interviews are an important opportunity to understand parents understanding of risk and their insight to what needs to change therefore interviews are a crucial part of the assessment. Observations are still required and depending upon the issues needing to be assessed will depend on the level of observations i.e. neglect concerns may require more observations then domestic abuse concerns.\nIf you worked alongside a colleague (either fellow SW, SW Assistant or another professional), explain who they were, their professional role and how the work was divided.\nYou should also outline what other sources of information you have used. E.g. case files, direct/indirect meetings with other family members, or other professionals.\nIf you have used particular tools when working with the parent, e.g. the PAMS manual for parents with learning difficulties, Daily hassles, HOME inventory etc then explain this here.\nIt is important that you are able to illustrate you have considered the parents’ ability to learn and whether there have been any external assessments of the parents cognitive abilities. If so, what were the outcomes? How have you tailored your approach and style to ensure the best opportunity for affecting change in this parent?\nAre there questions of racial/cultural/religious issues that you have considered? How have you taken these into account?\nIf you have completed a parenting assessment plan then reference can be made to this.\nAs part of the assessment, you should be considering the documentation available to you from children’s services records.\nFamily / Environmental Factors (use framework for assessment sub headings)\n4.1\nCo","cbCaiv39fZbMQXoG","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiv39fZbMQXoG","docx",1283949,8,"English","# Introduction\n## Assessor authorisation and qualifications\n## Identified needs and key risks\n## Materials considered\n# Background\n## Assessment purpose and current circumstances\n## Context within care and protection processes\n# Method of Assessment\n## Information-gathering approach and evidence sources\n## Tailoring approach and consideration of cognitive ability\n## Cultural, racial and religious considerations\n## Parenting assessment plan and records\n# Family / Environmental Factors\n## Family functioning, history, patterns and support networks\n# Child’s Developmental Needs\n## Developmental stages and carer-related needs","[{\"question\":\"What information must be included in the Introduction of a Parenting Assessment?\",\"answer\":\"The template requires assessor identity and authorization, qualifications and employment background, and how the assessment will rely on knowledge, colleague information, and children’s services records.
