The primary responsibility of Operating Room RN is to provide nursing care to patients during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience. Details about this exciting position are as follows:  \nPosition Summary: This position is responsible for providing nursing care to patients during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience  \nResponsibilities/Accountabilities:  \n􀁸 Performs nursing activities in the operating room where the circulating nurse is the patient's advocate.  \n􀁸 Answers patient needs by assisting the physician and person responsible for anesthesia care.  \n􀁸 Supervision of employees, including timekeeping, scheduling, and performance management (disciplinary action, performance evaluations, terminations, etc.) .  \n􀁸 Supports the philosophy, mission, and employee code of conduct, goals, and objectives of Orthopedic One Surgery Center at Easton.  \n􀁸 Contributes to the progress and development of the Organization's adopted Quality Management Program.  \n􀁸 Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.  \n􀁸 Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences.  \n􀁸 Adheres to safety and environment of care policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.  \n􀁸 Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies and personnel.  \n􀁸 Addresses patient needs during admission to the operating room, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting.  \n􀁸 Performs the circulating nurse's role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures.  \n􀁸 Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.  \n􀁸 Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care for patients of various age groups.  \n􀁸 Other duties as assigned by supervisor, administrator, or delegator.  \nResponsibilities/Accountabilities:  \n􀁸 Must be willing to fulfill multiple roles in advance of the surgery center opening, such as pre-operative, preadmission testing and/or materials coordinator, instrument processing, etc.  \nEducation, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required:  \n􀁸 Completion of an accredited nursing program required.  \n􀁸 Current state nursing licensure required.  \n􀁸 Operating room experience, especially in an ambulatory surgery center, is strongly preferred.  \nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  \n􀁸 Positive, effective, and professional communication (both written and oral) skills.  \n􀁸 Knowledge of medications, general health conditions and their impact on the perioperative course and anesthetic considerations.  \n􀁸 Able to make decisions confidently and quickly.  \n􀁸 Able to work well under pressure and stress.  \nPhysical Demands:  \n􀁸 Require high-level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities.  \n􀁸 Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs, and to stand for long periods.  \n􀁸 Occasional overhead and low reaching, and to exert force of up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 20 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.  \n􀁸 Patient care activities may require the ability to exert force of up to 30 lbs. constantly, up to 40 lbs. occasionally and up to 100 lbs. rarely.  \nOccupational Exposure:  \n􀁸 Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, may encounter chemical hazards.  \nPlease note that the surgery center will open in summer 2016.
