Open-source software (OSS) is a type of computer software in which source code is released under a license where the copyright holder grants users the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose. This course introduces learners to three open source software's-Latex, Scilab and Python. LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system which includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. Scilab is a open source software that includes numerical computational package and has a high-level, numerically oriented programming language. Python is an interpreted, high-level, general-purpose programming language which has its applications in areas like image processing etc. \nThe course is divided into two blocks. \nBlock 1 introduces learner's to Latex software. Installation and introduction to Latex has been covered in this block. This block covers topics like how to write abstract, chapters, table of contents, numbering tables and figures.
