Hejmanowski  \nDelaware County  \n10:00 – 10:15  Break  \n10:15-11:15  Marsy’s Law in Juvenile Court: Navigating Victims’Rights and  Restitution Challenges  \nThis session will provide Ohio juvenile county prosecutors with a comprehensive overview of Marsy’s Law as it interacts with the juvenile justice system. Attendees will examine the constitutional rights afforded to victims under Marsy’s Law, including the right to restitution, and how these rights affect the rehabilitative focus of juvenile court proceedings. Topics include the factors that go into the determination of restitution amounts, notice requirements for victims of juvenile delinquency, and victim impact statements in juvenile proceedings. The session will cover recent case law, the Marsy's Law statutory implementation, and best practices for prosecutors in juvenile proceedings. This training aims to equip prosecutors with tools to implement Marsy’s Law mandates while remaining consistent ethically and effectively with juvenile justice principles.  \nJudge David A. It involves evaluating not only the specific sexual behavior but also the broader developmental, social, and contextual factors that may contribute to the behavior. This includes assessing criminogenic risks, trauma history, mental health, and the youth's perception of the situation, alongside reviewing official reports and collateral information. This workshop will look at relevant research as well as assessment instruments used when interviewing the juvenile sexual offender and how it corresponds to the juvenile county prosecutor’s tasks when dealing with these cases.  \nDr. Daniel L. However, it does not stop there as we can also obtain data from the records and clouds to make an even stronger case.
