It compares earlier note systems like notecard boxes and apps such as Day One and Google Keep, then describes Obsidian’s strengths: fast plain-text Markdown storage, easy templating, and community plugins for search, graph visualization, and workflow speed. It also covers practical note organization strategies with folders, tags, and regular weekly retrospectives driven by Continue\n\n梦 \nObsidean user guide \nI've been using a 3x5 notecard box for five years to store quotes, stories, and ideas. While it helped me reference insights later,I encountered some issues:It washard to track down previously recorded ideas because I didn't remember the category where I stored them.I had to chooseone category for many quotes and ideas that pertained to 3-4 \ntopics.Handwriting each notecard took a long time.Whenever I got a fresh insight away from home,I had to text or email it to myself then transcribe it onto a notecard. These hurdles made me realize there must be a better way to track ideas. Before that,I tried using note-taking apps like Day One and Google Keep, but they didn't quite do the trick. \nI started reading about personal knowledge management(PKM)apps, also known as \"second brain\"apps,after seeing several articles and videos.I came across apps like Roam Research,Obsidian, and Notion.Luckily,I had a trip scheduled to visit my friend Cris in Denver and mentioned the topic of PKM tools to him.He shared that he had been \nusing Obsidian for a year or two.We spent two days discussing Obsidian and its pros and cons compared to other PKM systems. After that weekend,I decided to give Obsidian a shot.I've now been using Obsidian for several months, and iit's safe to say I'm hooked. The three big things that attracted me to Obsidian are:It's incredibly fast because each \nnote is saved as a tiny text file.Obsidian files are saved in generic markdown language in standard textfiles, making them transferrable to many othersystems. The user interface(UI)is slick and easy to use within a day of using the platform. You can save time by creating templates in Obsidian for repetitive tasks. For instance,I've made templates \nwith default sections and tags for book summaries, podcast notes, and weekly retrospectives. You'llsee an example of this later on.Obsidian's community plugins offer hundreds of free appsthat help users solve specific problems, such as the Graph View feature that lets you visualize your note connections or Lightning Fast Search and Loading which \nenables instant access to the items you need.As a content creator,I often use Obsidian to write articles. This tool is great for storing ideas for future stories and posts. The note pictured below started as this article you're reading now:My content architecture in Obsidian includes folders for storing notes. You cansee my file path at the top of the \nscreenshot:\"Article Ideas /Self Help and Productivity /The Complete Beginner's Guide to Using Obsidian as Your 'Second Braain.'\"I often come up with article names first, then build out the articlefrom there.Obsidian allows me to save my article ideas and return to them later when I'm ready to begin writing. In this note, you'll see the topics \nreferenced in purple hashtags at the top(\\#article-ideas,\\#obsidian,and\\#commonplace-book).Clicking on any of these links brings up all the notes saved for that tag.The full list of tags is shown on the right-hand side of the page. These help me track ideas, quotes, and topics throughout Obsidian. In the body of the note,I frequently write bullet \npoints to jog my memory with a few short words.Using a PKM platform like Obsidian helps you save information that may come in handy later. You can reference this library for any purpose, whether it's writing articles or giving speeches.Every Friday,I do a brief retrospective on what I learned and accomplished that week.I've saved these weekly \nquestions in an Obsidian template so I don't have to fill out the format every time. Here's what the template looks like:How do you want to save quotes in your system?Let's say we're discussing the following quotee..\"If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others:read a lot and write a lot. There's no way around these two things \nthat I'm aware of,no shortcut.\"-Stephen King Here are several options for how you may want to title
