In keeping with the Mission, the OB/GYN Nurse Coordinator will practice respect, integrity and honesty. The primary call shall be to the poor. Quality of patient care shall be a main priority. This individual will provide all OB care coordination for both clinical and reporting purposes. This will be the primary focus of the position and require approximately 20-25 hours of non-direct patient care activity. Extensive phone activity and coordination and monitoring of various services and agencies will be necessary. This person will also be responsible for tracking the clinical activities relative to grants in order to assure compliance in high standards of clinical care. The OB/GYN Nurse Coordinator will also monitor the pap lists from Quest to track abnormals in discussion with physician oversight.  \nSupervision Received: Reports directly to the Medical Director.  \nTypical Working Conditions: Full-time. Multi-site, inner-city medical practice office environment. Requires direct community outreach.  \nDuties and Responsibilities:  \n1. Track visits on all OB patients to be sure none are delinquent in care.  \n2. Call patients who miss OB appointments to find out reason and reschedule when appropriate.  \n3. Document attempts to track patients in EMR.  \n4. Identify OB patients who qualify for existing services (NFPP, WIC, Doula services, Every Child, etc.) and facilitate referrals.  \n5. Monitor compliance with specific clinical grant requirements which enhance patient care in the practice.  \n6. Ensure/monitor and assist physicians in billing for births.  \n7. Manage OBNA completion and submission.  \n8. Assure presence of appropriate materials in L & D for patients in labor (PN record, lab, tubal consents, etc.) .  \n9. Enter birth data into PN record of EClinicalWorks.  \n10. Facilitate transition of care from pregnancy to well child care of infant.  \n11. Make referrals to doula services.  \n12. Implement tracking system for GYN/PAP followup.  \n13. Additional tasks as identified by the OB physicians and Medical Director.  \n14. Reads email on at least a daily basis.  \n15. You are required to take on and complete any assigned job duties that are reasonably within the scope of your position.  \nPerformance Requirements:  \n Knowledge of the following required: Interest in the research process of supporting and prompting obstetrical services for the practice; prior research experience advantageous, but not necessary; understanding of preventive care of the female reproductive life cycles.  \n The following Skills required: excellent computer skills; excellent organizational skills; self-motivated with good collaborative working skills; high comfort level interacting with psychosocially high risk patients, including possible occasional home visitation; bi-lingual communication skills (English/Spanish) skills preferred.  \n The following Abilities required: Ability to provide case management intervention; ability to track and record clinical data for grant reports; ability to track and record for funding purposes.  \n Must maintain and provide current copies of driver’s license, auto registration, and auto insurance to manager.  \nEducation/Experience Requirements:  \n Licensed RN degree and current State Certification  \n Experience with OB/GYN care, ideally in outpatient setting  \nPhysical Demands: Work is performed in a fast-paced office and community setting.
