USNWR applies 17 measures of academic quality to produce ranks. GC’s score was 66 out of 100. The factors assigned the largest weight were graduation and retention (22%), undergraduate academic reputation,(20%), and faculty resources (20%) . Other factors are social mobility, graduation rate performance, student selectivity, financial resources, and graduate indebtedness. \nSpotlight on Assessment: \nDeveloping GC’s Next QEP \nWe’ve held numerous informational sessions this semester to generate excitement and ideas for our next QEP. Please be part of the process! If you were unable to attend an in-person or virtual session, please visit our QEP website where you will find: \n• The purpose and expectations for a quality plan \n• The timeline for GC’s QEP development and implementation \n• A sample proposal template \n• Video recordings from the first three open forums \n• A list of common QEP topics/themes \n• A link to all SACSCOC institutions’ QEP topics and executive summaries since 2007 \nQEP website: [https://irout.gcsu.edu/qep/](https://irout.gcsu.edu/qep/) \nContact us at [ir@gcsu.edu](ir@gcsu.edu) \nImportant Assessment Due Dates \n• APRs: July 31, 2021 (past due) \n• SMART Reports: October 15, 2021 (past due) \n• Progress & Planning: November 30, 2021 \n• Core Assessment, Fall 2021: December 17, 2021 \n• CPRs: April 30, 2022 \n• Core Assessment, Spring 2022: May 20, 2022 \nUSNWR Highlights: Peer Comparison \nGC has a standard set of 15 peers with whom we compare Admissions, Enrollment and Graduation data. Each year our office uses data from U.S. News and World Reports (USNWR) to compare GC to our peer group. 6 measures are highlighted below for 2022. One measure worth providing an explanation is the Peer Assessment Score. This measure is determined by administering a Peer Assessment Survey to presidents, provosts and deans of admissions asking them to rate the academic quality of peer institutions with which they are familiar on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished) . USNWR takes a two-year weighted average of the ratings. The 2022 Best Colleges rankings factor in scores from both 2021 and 2020. Additional measures included in this newsletter issues are Freshman Retention, Student/Faculty Ratio, Percent of Classes under 20 students, Percent of Classes over 50 students, and Graduation Rate. \nUSNWR Highlights: COPLAC Institution Comparison \nGC is 1 of 28 U.S. members of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) whose mission is to advance the aims of its member institutions and to drive awareness of the value of high-quality, public liberal arts education in a student-centered, residential environment. Below you will you can see how GC compares to other COPLAC institutions on 4 measures reported by USNWR. \nPlease note that there is some overlap between our peer group and COPLAC institutions. Some COPLAC institutions do not report to USNWR. \nOur office has complied a more comprehensive, multi-year Peer and COPLAC comparison report. \nIf you are interested, please email [ir@gcsu.edu](ir@gcsu.edu) to request. \nExternal Reporting Update \nOur office is in the process of submitting data to the following organizations for external reporting purposes: \n• Common Data Set \n• CUPA Faculty in Higher Education Survey \nCurrent Partnerships \nDue to the nature of our work as the central source of official GC historical data, IR is inconstant communication and partnership with departments across campus.
