Forest Health and Open Space Preservation \nKathy presented on the contents of the workplan, with four main opportunities including education of local landowners about core forest protection and forest health management, the promotion of Forest Management Plans, and the development of an Open Space Protection Plan. \nb. Riparian Corridors and Pollinator Pathways \nMaura reported on the status of the group’s workplan, which aims to connect habitat corridors adjacent to streams (riparian zones), promote participation in the Pollinator Pathway initiative, and identify outlets to share educational materials. The group also plans to collaborate with the ‘Cold Water Stream Habitat and Connectivity’workgroup to install a riparian buffer BMP, as well as develop the Lake Smart program with the‘Residential Landscapes and Septic Education Workgroup.’ \nc. Healthy Residential Landscapes and Septic Systems \nMegan presented the group’s three main opportunities: septic education at town halls and permitting levels, vocational retraining for landscapers on stormwater BMPs, and a scaleddown version of Maine's Lake Smart program. The Board discussed municipal land use initiatives, including educational workshops for municipal commission volunteers on stormwater management and low-impact \ndevelopment for watershed protection. \ne. Cold Water Stream Habitat and Connectivity \nHelen presented on the two opportunities the group has developed: analysis of culvert survey data to prioritize culvert replacements and collaboration with other Natchaug workgroups. The team explored culvert evaluation programs and riparian buffer projects, with plans to collaborate with the Riparian Wildlife Corridors & Pollinator Pathways’workgroup to install riparian buffer BMP. \nThe group discussed the importance of cold water habitats and the c","cbCaioc4EEvAcSO0","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioc4EEvAcSO0","pdf",129164,"English","# ATTENDEES\n## DISCUSSION SUMMARY\n## Workgroup Updates on Plan of Work\n### Forest Health and Open Space Preservation\n### Riparian Corridors and Pollinator Pathways\n### Healthy Residential Landscapes and Septic Systems\n### Town Land Use Officials Education\n### Cold Water Stream Habitat and Connectivity\n## Windham Water Works Field Day/Tour (May 2, 2026) - Planning","[{\"question\":\"What topics were covered in the October meeting discussions?\",\"answer\":\"The board reviewed the secretary replacement, summarized the September 20 “Sun Day” event, and discussed workgroup updates tied to the plan of work across multiple watershed initiatives.\"},{\"question\":\"What did the board report about the “Sun Day” event?\",\"answer\":\"NHWAB reported that the event focused on solar education and sustainability, included a watershed map and educational materials, had a relatively small turnout, but was considered a success overall.\"},{\"question\":\"How were culvert-related efforts discussed under the cold water habitat workgroup?\",\"answer\":\"The group emphasized analyzing culvert survey data to prioritize replacements, planning riparian buffer BMP work, and focusing on new culvert installations and replacements rather than altering many existing culverts due to public works constraints and funding/staffing challenges.\"}]","Natchaug Healthy Watershed Advisory Board October Meeting - Minutes | PDF",1789279299]
