The NASA Scientific and Technical Information (STI) program plays a key part in helping NASA maintain this important role. \nThe NASA STI program operates under the auspices of the Agency Chief Information Officer. It collects, organizes, provides for archiving, and disseminates NASA’s STI. The NASA STI program provides access to the NASA Aeronautics and Space Database and its public interface, the NASA technical report server, thus providing one of the largest collections of aeronautical and space science STI in the world. Results are published in both non-NASA channels and by NASA in the NASA STI report series, which include the following report types: \n Technical Publication: Reports of completed research or a major significant phase of research that \npresents the results of NASA programs and includes extensive data or theoretical analysis. Includes compilations of significant scientific and technical data and information deemed to be of continuing reference value. NASA counterpart of peer-reviewed formal professional papers but has less stringent limitations on manuscript length and extent of graphic presentations. \nTechnical Memorandum: Scientific and technical findings that are preliminary or of specialized interest, e.g., quick release reports, working papers, and bibliographies that contain minimal annotation. Does not contain extensive analysis. \nContractor Report: Scientific and technical findings by NASA sponsored contractors and grantees. Conference Publication: Collected papers from scientific and technical conferences, symposia, seminars, or other meetings sponsored or co-sponsored by NASA. \nSpecial Publication: Scientific, technical, or historical information from NASA programs, projects, and missions, often concerned with subjects having substantial public interest. \nTechnical Translation: English-language translations of foreign scientific and technical material pertinent to NASA’s mission. \nSpecialized services also include creating custom thesauri, building customized databases, and organizing and publishing research results. \nFor more information about the NASA STI program, see the following: \n Access the NASA STI program home page [at](at www.sti.nasa.gov)[ ](at www.sti.nasa.gov)[www.sti.nasa.gov](at www.sti.nasa.gov) \n E-mail your question via the Internet [to](to help@sti.nasa.gov)[ ](to help@sti.nasa.gov)[help@sti.nasa.gov](to help@sti.nasa.gov) \n Fax your question to the NASA STI help desk at 301-621-0134 \n Phone the NASA STI help desk at 301-621-0390 \n Write to: NASA STI Help Desk, NASA Center for AeroSpace Information, 7115 Standard Drive, Hanover, MD 21076-1320 \nNASA/SP-2010-3403 \nSchedule Management Handbook \nNational Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA Headquarters \nWashington, D.C. 20546 \nJanuary 2010 \nTo request print or electronic copies or provide comments, contact the Office of the Chief Engineer at \nNASA Headquarters \nElectronic copies are also available from \nNASA Center for AeroSpace Information \n7115 Standard Drive \nHanover, MD 21076-1320 \nat \n[http://ntrs.nasa.gov/](http://ntrs.nasa.gov/) \nTable of Contents \nFigures and Illustrations……………………………………………………………… viii \nPreface……………………………………………………………………………………...…… ix \nP.1 Purpose…………………………………………………………………. ix \nP.2 Applicability……………………………………………………………. ix \nP.3 Authority…………………………………………………………….….. ix \nP.4 References………………………………………………………………. x \nAcknowledgments……..………………………….……………………….………..…… xi \nChapter 1 Introduction……………………………………………………………… 1 \n1.1 Background……………………………………………………………… 1 \n1.2 Policy Implementation…………………………………………………… 3 \nChapter 2 Schedule Management Overview……………………………… 4 \n2.1 Schedule Management Approach………………………………………… 4 \n2.2 Roles and Responsibilities……………","cbCaibPUkmDFUDAr","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibPUkmDFUDAr","pdf",4128226,114,"English","# Preface\n## P.1 Purpose\n## P.2 Applicability\n## P.3 Authority\n## P.4 References\n# Acknowledgments\n# Chapter 1 Introduction\n## 1.1 Background\n## 1.2 Policy Implementation\n# Chapter 2 Schedule Management Overview\n## 2.1 Schedule Management Approach\n## 2.2 Roles and Responsibilities\n## 2.3 Contractor Schedules and Coordination\n## 2.4 In-House Schedules and Coordination\n## 2.5 External Organizations Schedules and Coordination\n## 2.6 Schedule Training\n# Chapter 3 Schedule Management Tool Considerations\n## 3.1 Overview\n## 3.2 Best Practices\n## 3.2.1 Functional Capabilities\n## 3.2.2 Interface Capabilities\n## 3.2.3 Technical Capabilities\n# Chapter 4 Pre-Schedule Development Activity\n## 4.1 Overview\n## 4.2 Assignment of Project Planner/Scheduler\n## 4.3 Program/Project Scope\n## 4.4 Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)\n## 4.5 Project Organizational Breakdown Structure (OBS)\n## 4.6 Project Funding\n## 4.7 Project Documentation\n## 4.8 Baseline Change Log\n## 4.9 Schedule Requirements\n# Chapter 5 Integrated Master Schedule Development\n## 5.1 Overview\n## 5.2 Data Input and Arrangement\n## 5.3 Task/Activity Definition\n## 5.4 Task/Activity Sequencing\n## 5.5 Duration Estimating\n## 5.6 Resource Planning\n## 5.7 Schedule Margin Planning\n## 5.8 Establishing the IMS Baseline\n# Chapter 6 Status Updates and Schedule Maintenance\n## 6.1 Overview\n## 6.2 Status Update Accounting\n## 6.3 Schedule Maintenance\n## 6.4 Schedule Data Back-up and Archive\n# Chapter 7 Schedule Assessment and Analysis\n## 7.1 Overview\n## 7.2 Levels of Insight","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of the NASA STI program described in this handbook?\",\"answer\":\"The NASA STI program collects, organizes, archives, and disseminates NASA scientific and technical information.
