How to collect data? \nHow to leverage the findings ofthe integrated CBA model? \nAbout this Slide Deck \nBlock 1 \nBlock 3 \nBlock 4 \nBlock 2 \nIn the first two learning blocks of Module 3, you learned about system mapping and integrated cost-benefit analysis. \nIn this third block, you will learn more about how to translate the qualitative system map into a quantitative model in Excel, assess the right valuation method, collect and integrate data in models, test results, and leverage key findings. Overall, you have the foundations for building a CBA Excel-based model. \nContent \n✓ Introduction: Overview of the modelling process \n✓ Section 1: Identify indicators based on System Maps \n✓ Section 2: Assess valuation methods and data \n✓ Section 3: Collect and integrate data \n✓ Section 4: Analyze results \n✓ Section 5: Test simulation results \n✓ Section 6: Interpret, analyze, and communicate findings \nIntroduction: Overview of the modelling process \nThe following slides explain the different steps used in the SAVi process to build a CBA Excel-based model. \nHow to Build a CBA Model? \nSAVi Excel-based CBA model template \nThrough the years the Nature-Based Infrastructure Global Resource Centre has developed various models to assess the value of NBI projects across the globe. Today, it is this cumulative experience that we would like to share by providing a template Excel-based model for cost and benefit analysis. You can find the template model in the additional materials for Module 3 on the NBI Academy page \nThe next slides will walk you through the general steps behind the Excel-based modelling process. Feel free to use the template or your own models. The guidelines are meant to give an overview of the process we go through with the SAVi methodology. \nHow to Build a CBA Model? \nExcel-based modelling process \nAnalyze results by looking at key metrics \n5 \nITERATE \nCollect and integrate data in CBA model \n2 \nAssess valuation method and data requirements \nTest simulation results \nthrough sensitivity analysis \nIdentify indicators \nbased on System Maps \n6 \nInterpret, analyze, and communicate findings \n1 \nHow to Build a CBA Model? \nCase study throughout the learning material – Eswatini \nTo illustrate the step-by-step process defined on previous slide, we will provide more theoretical details on what we recommend to do in each step. \nWe will go through each step in the process with the same case study: A SAVi assessment of agroforestry in Eswatini. The next slides explain what the project in Eswatini is about, after which you’ll be ready to jump into the process of building a CBA. \nYou can find more details about the SAVi assessment in the technical report: [https://nbi.iisd.org/report/agroforestry-in-eswatini/](https://nbi.iisd.org/report/agroforestry-in-eswatini/) \nCase Study – Context \nSAVi of nature-based infrastructure in Eswatini \n• Climate change poses significant challenges to Eswatini’s agricultural sector, including water scarcity, soil degradation, and reduced crop productivity, exacerbating food insecurity, and poverty. \n• The Government of Eswatini and IFAD have decided to develop the Smallholder Agriculture Productivity Enhancement and Marketing Project (SAPEMP) targeting an area spanning 40,000 hectares with an estimated 24,500 households. \n• This initiative is crucial for helping small-scale farmers adapt to climate change and protect the environment. \n• Our assessment f","cbCaitI4YJHvBxZe","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitI4YJHvBxZe","pdf",5311399,51,"English","# Introduction: Overview of the modelling process\n## Section 1: Identify indicators based on System Maps\n## Section 2: Assess valuation methods and data\n## Section 3: Collect and integrate data\n## Section 4: Analyze results\n## Section 5: Test simulation results\n## Section 6: Interpret, analyze, and communicate findings\n# Case study: Eswatini (agroforestry)","[{\"question\":\"What is the overall process for building an Excel-based CBA model for NBI?\",\"answer\":\"The course block outlines steps to identify indicators, assess valuation methods and data needs, collect and integrate data, analyze results, test simulations through sensitivity analysis, and interpret and communicate findings.\"},{\"question\":\"How are system maps used in Excel-based modelling?\",\"answer\":\"System maps guide the identification of CBA indicators, which are then translated into a quantitative Excel model to measure impacts.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the Eswatini agroforestry case study support in this module?\",\"answer\":\"The Eswatini case study (SAVi assessment) is used to illustrate the step-by-step modelling approach, helping learners apply the CBA process to a real project context.\"}]","Module 3 - Block 3 - Excel-Based Modelling - training | PDF",1789154702,18,{"code":4,"msg":82,"data":99},[100,103,108,113,118,123,128,132,137],{"id":55,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":29,"show_sort_weight":101,"slug":102},90,"presentations",{"id":104,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":105,"show_sort_weight":106,"slug":107},12,"Resumes",80,"resumes",{"id":109,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":110,"show_sort_weight":111,"slug":112},14,"Invoices",70,"invoices",{"id":114,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":115,"show_sort_weight":116,"slug":117},15,"Posters",60,"posters",{"id":119,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":120,"show_sort_weight":121,"slug":122},16,"Social Media",50,"social-media",{"id":124,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":125,"show_sort_weight":126,"slug":127},17,"Forms",40,"forms",{"id":97,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":129,"show_sort_weight":130,"slug":131},"Letters",30,"letters",{"id":133,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":134,"show_sort_weight":135,"slug":136},21,"Paper Templates",5,"papers-templates",{"id":138,"doc_module":22,"doc_module_name":25,"category_name":139,"show_sort_weight":4,"slug":140},158,"General","general-158"]
