Each year, one exceptional Club member is selected to be the National Youth of the Year. This person serves as an exemplary ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth and as a strong voice for all of our nation’s young people. \nIn 2013, BGCA introduced the Military Youth of the Year distinction to recognize outstanding teens served at BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations through a partnership with the Armed Services. By partnering with the Armed Services to provide consistent programming, supporting safe environments and training highly engaged staff, BGCA has helped combat some of the military stressors. BGCA programs provide these youth with skills and knowledge to positively respond to the challenges of military life and to serve as youth leaders in their military communities. The Youth of the Year program is highly recognized by the military as one of the most impactful and engaging leadership development opportunities for youth. \nThrough a series of local, state and regional events, six teen finalists emerge to represent Youth Centers on military installations in five geographic regions, which include: Northeast, Southeast, Pacific, Midwest and Southwest. From the National Military Youth of the Year event, a National Military Youth of the Year is named and advances to the National Youth of the Year event. To achieve the title of Youth of the Year on any level, Club members must embody the values of leadership and service, academic excellence and healthy lifestyles. They should exemplify the critical impact Boys & Girls Clubs of America and affiliated Youth Centers have on the lives of young people. \n2022 Military Youth of the Year Application Kit ~~ ~~ \nTABLE OF CONTENTS \nMilitary Application Contents \nInformation and Instructions \nOverview ...............................................................1 \nEligibility Requirements .........................................2 \nApplication Process ................................................3 \nScoring Framework ................................................4 \nJob Description ......................................................5 \nApplication Checklist ..............................................7 \nCandidate Nomination Form ..................................8 \nResume Instructions.............................................10 \nSample Completed Resume..................................12 \nResume Template ................................................14 \nCover Letter Instructions ......................................16 \nSample Completed Cover Letter ...........................17 \nCover Letter Template..........................................18 \nEssay Instructions.................................................19 \nRecommendation Instructions .............................20 \nAdditional Required Forms \nEmergency Care Release ......................................21 \nAuthorization .......................................................23 \nGeneral Waiver ....................................................24 \nAlumni & Friends Club Enrollment Acknowledgment ...............................25 \nCode of Conduct...................................................26 \nVerification of Identification ................................28 \n2022 Military Youth of the Year Application Kit ~~ ~~ \nOVERVIEW \nThe Youth of the Year program creates opportunities for Club youth to receive recognition at the local, state, regional and national levels. \nYouth Center Level \nA Youth of the Year is selected in the local Youth Center from a pool of members who have participated in a year-round recognition program.
