It focuses on human anatomy (structure) and physiology (function) at the histological and organ-system levels. In addition to introducing the students to basic cell biology and tissue biology, it also provides them with a detailed knowledge of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous and endocrine systems. Where relevant, discussions of pathologies associated with these systems will also be addressed. Learning objectives for the course are aligned with the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society national standards. \nCourse Prerequisites: Credit or concurrent enrollment in CHEM 101, CHEM 102, or equivalent, or consent of instructor. This course meets part of the major requirements for students in Kinesiology and Community Health. \nStudent Learning Outcomes \nAt the end of the course, through assignments, discussions, activities and assessments, students will be able to: \n1 \n• describe the basic principles of anatomy (body structure) and physiology (cellular and organ system functions), and the chemical components of cells and tissues. \n• describe the structure of and the mechanisms underlying the functions of the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous and endocrine systems \n• explain the integration between the physical characteristics and properties of a given structure (cell, tissue organ) and how they contribute to and guide its range of physiological functions. \n• Recognize how the body’s organ systems function through homeostatic regulatory processes and feedback systems. \nCourse Text/Materials Information \n• MCB244 is participating in the Day1Access Program. All students enrolled in this course are automatically enrolled in Day1Access Program so they can get immediate access to the digital materials. Students will have the discounted course materials billed to their bursar account. Students who wish not to participate in this program may opt out. \nHard copy material can be purchased at local campus bookstores: [https://bookstore.illinois.edu/](https://bookstore.illinois.edu/) \n1) Textbook (REQUIRED): Anatomy & Physiology: An Integrative Approach, 5th edition by McKinley, O'Loughlin & Bidle with access to McGraw Hill's Connect platform (online resource); can also be purchased from connect website: [https://connect.mheducation.com/](https://connect.mheducation.com/) \n• Reading Assignments: Before each topic is covered in the class lecture, the instructor will assign material from the required textbook. Reading this material is essential for keeping up with the lecture content (Please note that Reading Assignments are NOT graded) . \nCourse Website, Course Tools \n• ","cbCaieUJtluix6G9","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaieUJtluix6G9","pdf",239242,"English","# Course Overview and Description\n## Learning Objectives and Outcomes\n## Course Prerequisites\n## Course Text and Materials\n## Course Website and Tools\n## Grading Information and Breakdown\n## Class Meeting Schedule and Key Dates","[{\"question\":\"What topics does MCB 244 cover in human anatomy and physiology?\",\"answer\":\"The course covers human anatomy (structure) and physiology (function) at histological and organ-system levels, including integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine systems.
