This acknowledgment demonstrates our responsibility and commitment to truth, healing, and reconciliation and to elevating the stories, culture, and community of the original inhabitants of the City of Los Angeles. We are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work on these ancestral lands. We also honor the selfattestation of current mission-based Tribes confirming their connection to the ancestral lands on which we live and work today: \nGabrieleno San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians led by the Gabrieleno Tongva Tribal Council \nGabrieleño Band of Mission Indians-Kizh Nation \nFernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians \nNorthern Chumash Tribal Council \nMAYOR BASS’ CLIMATE ACTION PLAN FOR LOS ANGELES 3 \nLetter from the Mayor \nCities are the front lines for the climate crisis. Angelenos are living with the impacts every day–from devastating wildfires and floods to rising heat and longer heat waves. We won’t feel those impacts equally, as they will differ across the diverse communities and landscapes that make up our city. Rather, these impacts are felt locally, in our neighborhoods, our homes, our schools, and our workplaces. Our most vulnerable residents, including low-income families, communities of color, and unhoused neighbors, are often hit the hardest. \nThe impacts are local, and so are many of the solutions needed to address the climate crisis. Los Angeles remains a committed leader to climate action, both to slow down climate change and to prepare for the already seen and felt impacts of a changing climate. Our land use, energy choices, transportation, and buildings drive climate change and, in turn, climate solutions. Our decisions today will impact Angelenos for generations to come, making city action that much more critical. Especially at this moment, local leaders must act to ensure a safe, resilient, and equitable Los Angeles. \nLos Angeles has been a climate leader for decades. As home to the largest municipally owned electric utility, along with one of the busiest port complexes and airports in the country, we impact daily life and the economy here in the city, across the region, and beyond. Focused on implementation, I have established a Climate Cabinet with representation from city leadership and key departments to drive the city’s climate commitments. We’ve met critical milestones, including becoming a coal-free city. These investments in reliable energy, local water capture, and green infrastructure, to name a few, also create local jobs for Angelenos, helping us meet our ","cbCaih0UTaZsVZ9w","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaih0UTaZsVZ9w","pdf",7499300,93,"English","# Land Acknowledgment\n## Letter from the Mayor\n## Letter from the Deputy Mayor of Energy and Sustainability\n# Executive Summary\n## Introduction\n## Why this plan?\n## Climate Reality in Los Angeles\n## Plan goals and structure\n# Goal 1: LA Will Be a Clean, Connected, and Healthy City that Improves Quality of Life for All Angelenos\n# Goal 2: LA Will Be Home to Climate-Resilient Neighborhoods Where People and Nature Can Thrive\n# Goal 3: LA Will Be a Thriving Green Economy with Opportunity for All\n# Goal 4: LA Will Be a Global Model for Bold and Equitable Climate Leadership\n# Next Steps\n# Appendix A: Goals, Objectives, and Targets, and Supporting Departments\n# Appendix B: Acronyms and Abbreviations\n# References","[{\"question\":\"Why does Los Angeles need this climate action plan?\",\"answer\":\"The plan responds to climate impacts already experienced in the city, emphasizes that solutions are local, and frames how city decisions today will affect Angelenos for generations.\"},{\"question\":\"What areas drive climate change according to the plan?\",\"answer\":\"The plan highlights city levers such as land use, energy choices, transportation, and buildings, as well as how buildings are designed and operated and how streets and sidewalks and other infrastructure are developed.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the four main goals of the plan?\",\"answer\":\"The goals are: creating a clean, connected, and healthy city; building climate-resilient neighborhoods; advancing a thriving green economy with opportunity for all; and positioning Los Angeles as a global model for bold and equitable climate leadership.\"}]","Mayor Bass' Climate Action Plan for Los Angeles - 2026 | PDF",33]
