Catherine Clute  \nThere were a lot of questions in mid-December when the Municipality of the District of Chester held the first of two public information sessions on the issue of a central water supply for the village area.  \nSlightly more than a hundred people interrupted their preChristm a s pl ann ing and preparation to spend an evening atthe Chester Area Middle School to find out more about the proposal to install a central water system.  \nThey looked at charts, at maps, read information sheets displayed on the wall and talked to eachother.  \nMembers of the municipal staff were on hand, as well as several municipal councillors, including Danielle Barkhouse, councillor for the area under consideration,  \nto talk to interested citizens and to answer questions.  \nMany of the questions revolved around possible amounts of funding from other levels of government and specific details and scenarios.  \nFor instance, business owner, Annette Collicutt, asked what would happen to existing wellson individual’s properties if and when a central water system would be installed and those wells abandoned.  \nMatthew Davison, Director of Engineering and Public Works, responded that the property owners would be responsible to follow any regulations and fill in the well and those costs are not included in any of the estimates for a central water supply.  \nChester resident Joanne
