We are delighted that you are getting married, and happy that you have chosen to be married here in the Cathedral. It will be our pleasure to help you prepare for marriage and for the wedding ceremony itself. \nIn this booklet you will find all of the relevant information concerning marriage preparation and also preparing for the wedding day. \nFrequently asked questions \nWho can get married in the Cathedral? \n􀁸 Anyone can be married in the Cathedral as long as both parties are \nfree to marry and one of the parties is a Catholic. What if I don’t live in the Cathedral parish? \n􀁸 If you do not live within the boundaries of the Cathedral parish, your parish priest is responsible for the completion of your pre-marriage paperwork and the necessary pre-marriage catechesis. He is also responsible for ensuring that the relevant paperwork arrives at the Cathedral in good time. \nHow much notice must I give? \n􀁸 The Cathedral parish requires six months’ notice of your marriage. What preparations will we be required to undertake? \n􀁸 The Cathedral parish runs its own marriage preparation course, which covers the fundamentals ofthe Church’s vision of marriage and family life. Parishioners of the Cathedral are required to attend this course, whilst those who live outside of the Cathedral parish boundaries should attend a course organised by their own parish priest. With the written permission of the parish priest, those who do \nnot live within the boundaries of the Cathedral parish may attend the course offered at the Cathedral. \nAre there any costs? \n􀁸 There is no charge to receive the Sacraments ofthe Church. However, for those who are not parishioners of the Cathedral, we ask that to offset the running costs ofthe Cathedral, borne by its parishioners, a donation of £200 is made before the wedding. If you are a UK taxpayer, you may consider gift-aiding this donation. Further, it is customary to make a donation to the celebrant, although this is entirely optional. \n􀁸 The Marriage Preparation Course run by the Cathedral costs £50 to cover the costs of speakers and materials. \n􀁸 Fees for the organist and flowers are additional (see below) . What documentation is required? \n􀁸 The Catholic party/parties must produce a certificate of baptism, issued within six months of the wedding. To obtain this, you should bein touch with the parish in which you were baptised no earlier than six months before the wedding to request this document. \n􀁸 The non-Catholic party must produce proof of baptism (Christening), which can take the form of their original certificate, an annotated birth certificate or a testimonial letter from a parent or other close relative. \n􀁸 Both parties must produce a letter of freedom, usually from a parent, stating that they have not been married before and are free to marry, or that they have been married before, have received the necessary writ of divorce/nullity and are free to marry. \nWhat civil documentation is required? \n􀁸 Both parties to a proposed marriage are required to submit a Notice of Marriage form (Form M10) to the registrar of the district in which the marriage is to take place. Forms can be obtained from any Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Scotland. Notice must be given in the three month period before the wedding, and not later than fifteen days before the wedding. \nThe Registrar will prepare a Marriage Schedule which one of the parties must collect in person. The Wedding Schedule must be brought to the celebrant before the wedding, usually at the wedding rehearsal. N.B. Without the Marriage Schedule, the celebrant will not be able to marry you. \nFor full civil requirements be in contact with: \nRegistrar’s Office \n59-63 George IV Bridge, \nEdinburgh, \nEH1 1RN \nTel.: +44 131 529 2600 \nEmail: [registrars.lothianchambers@edinburgh.gov.uk](registrars.lothianchambers@edinburgh.gov.uk) \nGuidelines for Marry","cbCaigHKBtso2lyz","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaigHKBtso2lyz","pdf",379543,9,"English","# Frequently asked questions\n## Who can get married in the Cathedral?\n## What if I don’t live in the Cathedral parish?\n## How much notice must I give?\n## What preparations will we be required to undertake?\n## Are there any costs?\n## What documentation is required?\n## What civil documentation is required?\n# Guidelines for Marrying in the Cathedral\n## Preparing the liturgy for the celebration of marriage\n## Personalising the Rite of Marriage\n## Worship and participation in the wedding liturgy","[{\"question\":\"Who can get married in the Cathedral?\",\"answer\":\"Anyone can marry in the Cathedral if both parties are free to marry and one of the parties is Catholic.\"},{\"question\":\"How long is the notice period required for the marriage?\",\"answer\":\"The Cathedral parish requires six months’ notice.\"},{\"question\":\"What civil documents must be submitted and when?\",\"answer\":\"Both parties must submit a Notice of Marriage form (Form M10) to the local registrar, with notice given in the three month period before the wedding and no later than fifteen days before the wedding.\"}]","Marrying in St Mary’s Cathedral - Wedding Preparation Information - Frequently Asked Questions | PDF",1790239794]
