It introduces Keller’s ARCS model to increase learner motivation through attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. The manual then provides studio-focused instructions for scripting across every script phase, including how to prepare, introduce the video, present core theory and instructions, conclude, and handle slideshow and in-video pop-up questions, followed by templates and examples.",{"@graph":14,"@context":73},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/","Template",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/presentations/","Presentations",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/manual-for-scripting-how-to-script-for-videos/238369/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/manual-for-scripting-how-to-script-for-videos/238369.png","ImageObject",442,249,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Bill Black","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-29","2026-09-11",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",14,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"Why is scripting necessary before recording a video in the studio?","Question",{"text":63,"@type":64},"A script includes the complete spoken text and visual components, and it reduces common issues seen when recording without preparation, such as forgetting points or losing the flow. Introduction \nIn this manual we will guide you through the process of scripting. We will start with the general question’’Why script?’’ and will then explain the ARCS model by Keller (2000) which describes four elements to increase learners’ motivation. We explain this model because it provides a general idea on how to motivate learners during your videos. If you are eager for a more detailed version of how to make a script for guidelines and tips you can go directly to chapter 3. In this chapter, scripting will be explained in a step by step process with practical suggestions. At the end of this manual you will find a template for scripting, a checklist to revise your script and an example of a script. \n1.1. Why script? \nBefore you record a video in the studio you need a script containing the complete spoken text and visual components for your video. There is a big difference between recording a video and teaching face to face; even if you are an experienced teacher, for a video recording you can’t just ‘go with the flow’. Presenting in front of a camera is a different experience from presenting for a live audience. There is no one to direct your attention to, improvisation is much more difficult and you don’t get any live-feedback or questions to direct your presentation. The presentation also needs to be much more fluent. \nWhy is scripting necessary? \n􀁸 Recording videos is a time consuming process. Re-recording and post-editing videos adds additional time to the process. Therefore, for efficient production of high quality videos, scripting is essential. \n􀁸 It provides structure. Scripting helps you think beforehand about what you are going to discuss, in what order you want to discuss topics and how exactly you want to phrase your messages. A clear structure enhances the quality of an instruction. \n􀁸 If all the scripts are structur","cbCaioeWr5ZbgFj1","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaioeWr5ZbgFj1","pdf",845761,13,"English","# Introduction\n## Why script?\n# Scripting for engagement: The ARCS model\n# Guidelines and tips\n## Studio instructions for scripting (every phase of the script)\n## How to start: preparing your script\n## Introduction of the video\n## Core: theory & instruction\n## Wrap up\n## Slideshow instructions\n## In-video pop up questions\n# Template scripting\n# Example of a script\n# References","[{\"question\":\"Why is scripting necessary before recording a video in the studio?\",\"answer\":\"A script includes the complete spoken text and visual components, and it reduces common issues seen when recording without preparation, such as forgetting points or losing the flow.
