The materials have been designed and used as part of the Archive’s daily work in supporting ESRC applicants and award holders. The UK Data Archive has over forty years experience in selecting, ingesting, curating and providing access to social science data. We are a designated Place of Deposit for The National Archives and are internationally acknowledged experts in this field. \nOur recent ESRC Researcher Development Initiative project,‘Data Management and Sharing for Researchers Training’, has enabled us to modularise, test, and refine the materials, creating off-the-shelf materials ready for instructors to use. Versions of these training materials have been used in our workshops aimed at diverse audiences – junior to senior researchers from a range of disciplines, junior and senior lecturers, postgraduate students, research support staff in universities, colleges and research organisations, and Research Ethics Committee (REC) members. \nThese materials are intended to be used flexibly and cover training in the seven key areas of data management identified by the UK Data Archive: \n• sharing data-why and how \n• data management planning for researchers and research centres \n• documenting data \n• formatting data \n• storing data, including data security, data transfer, encryption, and file sharing \n• ethics and consent \n• data copyright \nWHO SHOULD USE OUR TRAINING RESOURCES? \nThe intention is for them to be used at an introductory level by those who: \n• provide formal advice on data management and sharing, including: University research grant administrators, REC members and IT support staff; research centre managers; and librarians supporting institutional data management requirements \n• deliver training on research methods-these materials are highly complementary to introductions to research methods, covering areas that are fundamental (but often overlooked) in training students how to look after research data well \nOur approach and materials have already been adopted by other organisations, such as the JISC’s 2011 projects delivering postgraduate training in data managem","cbCaipvPzKGi2EOY","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipvPzKGi2EOY","pdf",23657143,122,"English","# Introduction\n## Sharing your data-why and how\n## Data management planning\n## Documenting your data\n## Formatting your data\n## Storing your data\n## Ethics and consent\n## Copyright","[{\"question\":\"Who are these training resources intended for?\",\"answer\":\"They are intended for people who provide formal advice on data management and sharing, deliver training on research methods, and support researchers or institutions, including REC members, IT support staff, research centre managers, and librarians.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the seven key areas covered by the materials?\",\"answer\":\"The seven areas are sharing data (why and how), data management planning, documenting data, formatting data, storing data (including security and transfer), ethics and consent, and data copyright.\"},{\"question\":\"What types of learning resources are included for each module?\",\"answer\":\"Each module can include topic overview PowerPoint presentations, a presenter’s guide to exercises (when provided), contextual exercise introductions, participant exercises and exemplars, and exercise answers that can be distributed after completion.\"}]","MANAGING AND SHARING DATA - TRAINING RESOURCES SEPTEMBER 2011 | PDF",1790077601,43]
