The total‘amount’ of light emitted from a source. \nLuminous Flux – The measure of perceived power of light. \nLux -The metric unit that quantifies light on a surface or plane in lumens per square meter. \nCandela – The unit of measurement of the amount of light emanating from a point source within a solid angle. \nBallast – An auxiliary electrical device consisting of induction windings wound around a metal core and sometimes including a capacitor for power correction. It is used with fluorescent and HID lamps to provide the necessary starting voltage and to limit current during operation. \nHow to convert between candela and lumens? \nConverting between candela and lumens cannot be easily done because they measure different things. In general lumens measure light output at the source, while candelas measure the light that falls on a surface. Asthe area of the surface increases, the number of candelas will decrease even as the number of lumens remains constant. \nWhat is the difference between Lux and a Lumen? \nLumen is a measure of light output at the source. Lux takes into account the area over which luminous flux is spread. \nFor example, a flux of 1,000 lumens, concentrated into an area of one square meter, lights up that square meter with an illuminance of 1,000 lux. The same 1,000 lumens spread over ten square meters produces a dimmer illuminance of only 100 lux \nIsolux Charts \nBehavior of Beam Patterns Measured in Lux \nDistance in width, in meters \nTypes ofLumens \nCalculated Lumens – Lumens based on LED wattage, voltage and luminous efficacy of the LED as published by the LED manufacturer. \nRaw Lumens – Lumens measured in ECCO’s integrated sphere at lamp start up rounded to the nearest 50. (445 would be 450 / 425 would be 400) \nEffective Lumens-Lumens measured in ECCO’s integrated sphere when the lamp has reached a steady state approximately 20 minutes rounded to the nearest 50.","cbCainFqE640Y5tw","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainFqE640Y5tw","pdf",77399,"English","# Units and Definitions\n## Lumen, Luminous Flux, Lux, and Candela\n## Ballast Basics\n# Conversions and Comparisons\n## Converting Candela and Lumens\n## Difference Between Lux and Lumen\n# Measurements and Charts\n## Isolux Charts\n## Beam Patterns Measured in Lux\n## Types of Lumens\n## Distance in Width","[{\"question\":\"What is the difference between candela and lumens?\",\"answer\":\"Candela relates to the light falling on a surface, while lumens represent the light output at the source; as surface area increases, candela decreases while lumens stays constant.\"},{\"question\":\"How does lux relate to lumens?\",\"answer\":\"Lux accounts for the area over which luminous flux is spread; 1,000 lumens over one square meter yields 1,000 lux, while spreading across ten square meters yields 100 lux.\"},{\"question\":\"What are calculated, raw, and effective lumens?\",\"answer\":\"Calculated lumens are based on LED wattage, voltage, and luminous efficacy from the manufacturer; raw lumens are measured at lamp start-up in an integrated sphere and rounded; effective lumens are measured after the lamp reaches a steady state (about 20 minutes) and rounded.\"}]","Lumen Tips and More - Illuminance & Luminous Unit Conversions | PDF",1791858004]
