You can create and modify a Letter of Wishes at any time, without needing to consult with your attorney. \nSELF REFLECTION QUESTIONS \n What are the organizations you would like to leave a legacy/ planned gift to? \n What would you like to happen if that organization significantly changes or doesn't exist in the future? \n How would you like your family to be involved in creating and/or implementing your charitable wishes? \n Are there annual gifts that you typically make that you would like to be continued for a certain time period? \n What financial criteria need to be met in order for your charitable goals to be implemented? \nLETTER OF WISHES \nTEMPLATE \nI am creating this Letter of Wishes to set forth some wishes I have regarding charitable giving in the event of my death. This is not the same as amending a Trust nor is it a Codicil tomy Will and therefore is not binding on anyone. My charitable intent is predicated on the circumstances as I see them at the moment. Some of these include: \n ( Financial Security) \n ( Family Involvement) \n (Any Other Considerations) \nAs such, and dependent on the circumstances above, my wishes are the following: \n X dollar amount/X percentage to Organization A \n X dollar amount/X percentage to Organization B Etc \n( Organizational Changes) \nShould Organization A cease to exist, then Should Organization A’s mission significantly change, then \nLETTER OF WISHES \nEXAMPLE \nI am creating this Letter of Wishes to set forth some wishes I have regarding charitable giving in the event of my death. This is not the same as amending a Trust nor is it a Codicil to my Will and therefore is not binding on anyone. My charitable intent is predicated on the circumstances as I see them at the moment. Some of these include: \n What I lay out here may be altered by whether I predecease my spouse, or they predecease me \n Some of the current financial considerations I have are: \n Our retirement accounts of \n Our rainy day savings of \n Our life insurance policy of \nAbove all, I do not wish for any of this to reduce or otherwise impact our family’s standard of living. Therefore, I would ask that our family and its advisors consider this in the overall context of the current situation. \nWith this in mind, I would like to: \n Leave to \n Leave to provided that anyone in our immediate family still lives in Utah. \n Leave to so long as If any of these organizations cease to exist, I would like to simply eliminate giving to them and not try to find substitutes for them. Rather, I would recommend that giving to other entities be increased. I recommend all of these gifts be general operating gifts but leave it to my family if any funds should be earmarked to a particular program, endowment, or restriction. \nAdditionally, I would like to see my current annual contributions to these organizations continue for five years after my death. \nIf economics dictate changes, I understand these could all go to zero. If they are decreased or increased, I would lean toward doing so ratably rather than arbitrarily among them. \nI hope to revisit this in the future and hopefully increase these substantially. At these levels, my view is they aren’t meaningfully detracting from our lifestyle, particularly ifour balance sheet grows and there is material insurance and charitable funds from which to make these gifts. \nSincerely,","cbCais1T8eAGyfFF","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCais1T8eAGyfFF","pdf",5633000,"English","# Self Reflection Questions\n## Letter of Wishes Template\n## Organizational Changes\n## Example Wording\n## Ongoing Contributions and Adjustments","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of a Letter of Wishes in estate planning?\",\"answer\":\"It communicates charitable wishes to the family, trustees, advisors, and executors in a simple, non-binding way.\"},{\"question\":\"Is a Letter of Wishes legally binding like a trust amendment or codicil?\",\"answer\":\"No. It is not the same as amending a trust and is not a codicil to a will, so it is not binding on anyone.\"},{\"question\":\"What should you address if an organization changes or ceases to exist?\",\"answer\":\"The template prompts you to state what should happen if the organization no longer exists or its mission significantly changes, including whether giving should be eliminated and other giving increased.\"}]","Letter of Wishes - Template | PDF",1789494951]
