As you already know, you have been asked to write a thank you letter to the donor who finances your scholarship. We know you received instructions from the Office of Financial Aid to prepare a letter of gratitude addressed to your donor, however, since we will be delivering your letter to your donor, we would like to take the opportunity to introduce ourselves to you and let you know what the donors like to hear about the students that they support. \nThe AUA’s Office of Development is located in Oakland, California. Our team here works directly with the donors and secures the funds necessary to support your education at AUA. It is important that they know the impact of their donation. For scholarship donors, there is no bigger proof of impact than you – the student. Your letter will mean the world to your donor. It may seem surprising, but some donors have been known to carry these letters with them to AUA events to share with others, they’ve read them aloud during public speeches and some have even framed them to hang on the walls of their homes. With just a little extra effort from you, your donor will have a letter they will cherish for a lifetime. \nIt can be difficult to write a sincere thank you note to a family member, let alone a letter to a stranger that lives halfway around the world! While most of you will write beautiful letters, there will undoubtedly be some that treat the assignment as little more than an obligatory hoop on the road to receiving your degree. Please, don’t think of this as just another obligation. Take this opportunity to really let your donor in because, believe us, they want to get to know you! \nBefore you begin your letter, think about this: \nWhy has your donor decided to provide an AUA student with a scholarship? \nThink about it. Put yourself in their shoes. Almost all our donors live outside of Armenia, many in the US. They could donate money to any number of causes to implement change in their own, local communities but instead they donate to AUA. Why? \nEveryone has their own personal reasons to donate. Most, but not all, are part of the Diaspora and they donate to AUA to support their homeland. Some are AUA alumni, looking to give back to the school that gave them so much. Others may just want to support education. Though everyone has their own reasons, there is one thing they all have in common: They believe in AUA. They believe AUA will drive business development in the region and make Armenia a leader in technology. They believe that AUA graduates will be the future leaders of Armenia. They believe in YOU. \nWhat could the donor possibly want to know about me? \nEverything! If the roles were reversed, wouldn’t you want to learn more about them? Now Picture it: you have made the decision to support a student in another country. A student you have never met, know nothing about, and may never meet. You believe in this student so much that it doesn’t matter if you know them– you know that their lives and their education are important enough for you to give your hard-earned money to support them. If you were in that situation, what would you want to hear from your scholarship recipient? Would you want to know more about their lives? Families? Hobbies? Hopes and dreams? Would you want to know how they intend to use their education? Would you want to hear about their vision for the future of Armenia? We hope your answer are “yes” to all, because that is what the donors want to know about you as well. \nWhen they finish reading your letter, they should feel like they have gotten to know you. Use this letter as a tool to bridge the gap. Somehow, through the magic of pen and paper, the vast distance between you and your donor will shorten. Once they read your letter they are no longer supporting just any AUA student, they are supporting you. \nInclude little details: the town where you grew up, a group with which you volunteer, the s","cbCaipTQmbepE0qY","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipTQmbepE0qY","pdf",155916,"English","# Before You Begin Writing\n## Why Your Donor Chose to Give a Scholarship\n## What the Donor Wants to Know About You\n# Writing Tips\n## Include Personal Details and Photos\n## Maintain a Grateful Tone\n# Outline Suggestions\n## Sample Paragraph Structure","[{\"question\":\"What should the student focus on when addressing the scholarship donor?\",\"answer\":\"The letter should help the donor feel they are getting to know the student, including personal details and the student’s hopes and plans.\"},{\"question\":\"Why do donors want to read letters from scholarship recipients?\",\"answer\":\"Donors want proof of impact and connection, learning that their donation supports a real person and shares the student’s story and future vision for Armenia.\"},{\"question\":\"What practical elements are recommended for the letter?\",\"answer\":\"Use multiple paragraphs with clear subjects, elaborate with specific details, include appropriate high-quality photos (not selfies), and maintain gratitude and graciousness.\"}]","Letter of Gratitude to Donor - Instructions - Write a Scholarship Thank-You Letter | PDF",1789563631]
