It’s a core part of the Leadership Journey that you’ll work on throughout the journey—and beyond. Your project provides your cohort, our team, and the health ecosystem across the region you work with a better understanding of not just you as a health technical expert, but you as a current and future leader who can translate vision into action. Your leadership project should not only leverage your current skills but also help you stretch and challenge yourself. \nYour initial project idea is an important part of the application for the Leadership Journey. Early in the journey, you’ll work with trusted guides to evolve your idea and create an implementation plan. You’ll begin implementing the project by the latter half of the journey and present your project’s development and early outcomes at the Leadership Lift-Off event in the form of a 5-minute video. Your project’s implementation does not have to be complete by the end of the Leadership Journey, and ideally should continue beyond it. We encourage 2-5 year time horizons for continued work on the Health Leadership Project beyond the Journey. \nOUR DEFINITION OF HEALTH: \nAt WomenLift Health, we define “health” broadly and recognize that sustainable improvements in health require coordinated action across interconnected fields such as climate change, food systems, agriculture, water and sanitation, education, economic policy, gender equity, and technology. \nDeveloping women leaders across health: \n» Encourages multi-sector collaboration from the outset. \n» Cultivates leaders who can think across silos and build coalitions for impact. \n» Promotes systems thinking and investment in catalytic leverage points. \nTHREE GUIDELINES FOR THE HEALTH LEADERSHIP PROJECT: \n1. Focus on improving health outcomes and integrate gender considerations into interventions, policies, and systems to address differences in burdens, risks, care, and outcomes. \n2. Apply and enhance your leadership skills. Strike a balance between exercising your control and influence, while stretching yourself and leveraging resources to build sustainable impact. \n3. Channel your passion into health impact by addressing a public health issue through a systems lens, connecting to structures, policies, stakeholders, and root causes for sustainable, scalable change. \nHEALTH LEADERSHIP PROJECTS FIT INTO ONE OF FOUR THEMES: \nL E A D E R S H I P J O U R N E Y \nCenter women and girls in health \nTo center women and girls in health means designing, implementing, and evaluating health initiatives that prioritize their unique needs, experiences, and leadership. This approach, which can be applied to new or existing programs to amplify voices, address systemic barriers, and ensure equitable access to quality healthcare, especially for the most marginalized. \nCatalyze institutional change for health impact \nCatalyzing institutional change means leading purposeful and strategic shifts within health institutions to improve outcomes such as performance, equity, and impact. Change happens at the intersection of people and processes, requiring leaders to align strategy with culture to create innovative and sustainable solutions for health impact. \nOptimize pathways to health leadership \nOptimizing pathways to health leadership means creating clear, accessible, and supportive routes for women to attain and thrive in leadership roles across the health sector. This involves dismantling structural barriers, providing mentorship and sponsorship, and inclusive decision-making to position women to lead transformative change in health. \nBuild integrated and resilient health systems \nBuilding integrated and resilient health systems means creating interconnected, human-centered systems that deliver consistent, high-quality car","cbCaiagfAvmpTA1v","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiagfAvmpTA1v","pdf",1610840,7,"English","# What is a Health Leadership Project?\n## Core purpose and timeline\n## Definition of health and leadership outcomes\n# Three guidelines\n## Integrate gender considerations\n## Apply and enhance leadership skills\n## Address a public health issue through systems lens\n# Four project themes\n## Center women and girls in health\n## Catalyze institutional change for health impact\n## Optimize pathways to health leadership\n## Build integrated and resilient health systems\n# Example project directions\n## Research, education, technology, data, process improvement\n# Traits of the most successful projects","[{\"question\":\"What is the Health Leadership Project in the Leadership Journey?\",\"answer\":\"It is participants’ designed work that draws on their expertise, network, passion, and creativity to translate vision into action.
