I would like to upgrade the existing meters in the property to smart meters. I would like to make you aware that I have decided to replace the existing meters in the property to smart meters.
Smart meters are the next generation of a gas and electricity meter that send automatic accurate consumption readings to the supplier, and they are being rolled out across Great Britain by energy suppliers and are available at no additional cost. As I am the billpayer, I can request to have a smart meter installed and will arrange the installation with my supplier directly.
Benefits for landlord and tenants
I’d like to make you aware of the \u0013 HYPERLINK "https://www.smartenergygb.org/smart-meter-benefits/benefits-for-you" \u0014benefits a smart meter\u0015 can provide:
accurate and near-real time data about how much energy is used and how much it’s costing, via an in-home display (IHD) which is a small portable device paired to the smart meter and stays in the property
automatic meter readings, which mean I will pay for energy that I use rather than supplier estimates
final bills at the end of the tenancy can be calculated based on an accurate meter reading on the tenancy end date which can minimise disputes
automatic meter readings during any void periods, which mean you wouldn’t need to take meter readings at the property and will pay an accurate amount for any energy used the property, rather than estimated usage
the ability to operate in credit mode (monthly direct debit) or prepayment mode (top up as an when needed remotely) – this mode can be changed remotely at no cost at the request of the billpayer
The installation process
I will organise the \u0013 HYPERLINK "mailto:I%20will%20organise%20the%20installation%20by%20contacting%20my%20energy%20supplier." \u0014installation\u0015 by contacting my energy supplier as set out below.
The installer will visit the property on an agreed date and time to replace the existing meters at no additional cost
I will be responsible for letting the installer into the property and ensuring the work is complete
In most cases, the smart meter will be installed in the same place as the current meters
The installer has a formal qualification to meet specific national standards, as set out in the Smart Meter Installation Schedule. All energy suppliers have signed up to this code, which is regulated by Ofgem, who have powers to enforce it.
As I am responsible for paying the energy bills in the property, I can choose to get a smart meter installed however, in following Ofgem \u0013 HYPERLINK "https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/information-consumers/energy-advice-households/getting-smart-meter" \u0014guidance\u0015, I wanted to reach out to let you know of my decision and the reasons why.
Can you please let me know if in the next 7 days by email or phone if you have any concerns?
Many thanks,
Name","cbCaivqoX09g5gsB","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaivqoX09g5gsB","docx",36578,"English","# Landlord Notification Regarding Smart Meter Replacement
## Smart Meter Benefits for Landlord and Tenants
## Installation Process and Tenant Responsibilities
## Tenant Response Timeline","[{"question":"What should the tenant do if they have concerns?","answer":"The tenant is asked to let the landlord know by email or phone within the next 7 days if they have any concerns."}]","Landlord Letter Template - No Tenancy Clause 1 | DOCX",1788510104]
