The coaching staff and players will show great respect for one another. We will show a high degree of loyalty to all members of the basketball family. We, as coaches, will provide a good line of communication in order to develop unity. We have the responsibility to promote Academics, Fundamental Skills, and Positive Attitude to our players. \nWe must teach our players the importance of academics first. Good academic standings will prepare our student athletes for college and for the future. From past experience, we know that students who work hard in the classroom will also work hard on the basketball court. We will teach our players to make good decisions on the court as well as off the court. We will use the game of basketball as a teaching tool for many of life’s lessons. \nWe will teach our players to play fundamentally and intelligently. We will stress with great enthusiasm the importance of playing together as a team. We will promote success through hard work, positive attitude, attention to details, and preparation. We will provide the leadership that is necessary to motivate our players to reach their maximum potential. We will expect players to play with great enthusiasm, effort, and enjoyment. \nWe as coaches will be flexible, but firm in our beliefs. We will be very organized in our approach, and we will evaluate everyday. We will display a sportsmanlike attitude, and we will expect the players to do the same. We will provide positive leadership, and help players to know their roles on the team. We will emphasize preparation, and promote daily improvement. We will ask questions like…..”What have we done today to make ourselves better?” \nIn conclusion, we as coaches will make decisions that will be best for the program and the team. We will teach our players to have the following priorities: \n1. Faith & Family \n2. Academics \n3. Basketball \n4. Individual Interests \nWe are striving to create a Basketball Family that has Togetherness, Enthusiasm, Positive Attitude, and is Mentally Tough TEAM! \nParent/Coach \nCommunication Plan \nIt is very important that there is a good line of communication between coaches and parents. Therefore coaches and parents should understand their roles in helping to provide a great experience for the athlete. As parents, you have a right to understand what expectations areplaced on your child. This begins with clear communication from the coach. \nCommunication You Should Expect From Your Child’s Coach: \n1. Expectations the coach has for your child as well as the entire team. \n2. Locations and times of all practices, events, and games. \n3. Team requirements (practices, equipment needed, policies, etc.) . \nCommunication Coaches Expect From Parents: \n1. Notification of any schedule conflicts in advance. \n2. Notification if athlete is going to miss practices excused or unexcused. \n3. Concerns expressed directly to the coach. \nAs your child becomes involved with our basketball program, they will experience some very educational and rewarding times. There may also be some times when things do not go the way you or your child wishes. At these times discussion with the coach is encouraged. \nAppropriate Concerns To Discuss With Coaches: \n1. Concerns about your child’s behavior. \n2. Ways to help your child improve. \n3. The treatment of your child mentally and physically. \nIt can be very difficult to accept if your child is not playing as much as you may hope. We are going to make decisions based on what we feel is best for the team and program. It is important for you to understand that there are certain items we do not discuss with parents. \nConcerns Not Appropriate To Discuss With Coaches: \n1. Playing time \n2. Team strategy \n3. Game strategy \n4. Play calling \n5.
