It connects people to jobs, education, markets, health care, and to one another. It is also a key driver of long-term economic growth and prosperity by enabling the movement of goods that power businesses, supply chains, and entire industries. At the sametime, the absence of reliable transport, for example in rural areas and in countries in special situations, limits opportunities and stymies economic growth and connectivity. Despite its centrality, transport is often overlooked as a critical enabler of sustainable development until it becomes inaccessible, unaffordable, environmentally harmful or fails to meet demand. \nThe crucial role of sustainable transport for driving sustainable development was reaffirmed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2023 through resolution A/78/148 titled Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. In this resolution, the Member States declared the first ever United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport to commence in 2026 extending through 2035. \nThe United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport is an opportunity to strengthen the contrib","cbCaig99w9QPvz3o","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaig99w9QPvz3o","pdf",2027160,34,"English","# About the Implementation Plan\n## Mandate and preparation\n## Shared vision and priority areas\n# Focus Areas for Transformative Action through Transport\n## Unlocking synergies through sustainable transport for the SDGs and beyond\n## How to enable sustainable transport\n## Assessing progress toward sustainable transport","[{\"question\":\"Who prepared the Implementation Plan for the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026–2035?\",\"answer\":\"It was prepared by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in collaboration with UN regional economic commissions, with consultation involving Member States, UN entities, and other stakeholders.\"},{\"question\":\"What does the plan outline in terms of action priorities?\",\"answer\":\"It provides a shared vision and outlines six priority areas for transformative action, supported by the means of implementation for relevant stakeholders.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the six priority areas covered by the Implementation Plan?\",\"answer\":\"They include ensuring access to sustainable transport for all; advancing low- or zero-carbon resilient environmentally sound transport systems; enhancing efficiency and sustainable connectivity and logistics; shaping people-centred urban mobility and liveable cities; making transport safe and secure; and leveraging science, technology and innovation.\"}]","Implementation Plan for the United Nations Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026-2035 - About the Implementation Plan - Overview | PDF",1789252930]
