Rojas \nPolicing and Law Enforcement \nState Police \nThere are many different factions of policing. Such as, state police, town police, Military police, and other jobs that fall under that, where you can be a detective. What job will be focused on here is state police. Covering what they do to what they get paid and if it's a worthwhile career. Now state police do many different jobs the first and foremost is what everyone knows, they work for the state are trained more than a town officer and they patrol state roads and highways. But there are plenty of other duties of the job people don't know about. \nMost people think state police only take care of the highways but in most areas in some towns only have a 5 a. m. to 9 p. m. police station and this means the state police take over for the night shifts. so they will patrol the town street and be responding certain crimes such as domestic disputes, issue speeding tickets, burglaries. They also take have responsibilities of investigating felonies, directing traffic and issuing traffic citations, administering medical aid and respond to other calls of service. \nSome of the requirements to be a state trooper are as follows. Must be 21 years of age or under 36 , must not smoke tobacco products, pass a fitness, physical and mental test. Must not be convicted of any crimes or have en felonies on your record. Must be a U.S. citizen and resident of the state. Before joining the academy you have to have a driver's license and a gun permit. You must also have at the least a High School Diploma. Those are just the few requirements you need to have before joining the State Police. Now the salaries can vary alot depending on how long you're with the department and what your doing. If you're a recruit in the State Police you make $840 by weekly. Once you have completed the academy you can earn anywhere from $100K a year to $200K a year. \nThis is a career I would want to pursue, after I graduate from SNHU I plan on joining the NH state Police. Why I feel this career would suit me is i'm always willing to help people, I also like getting involved in community relations. There's also a huge range of job opportunities inside the state police compared to a town police department. \nReferences \nMassachusetts State Police Recruitment Information. (n.d. ) .
