It lists the standard measurement items, including bust, waist, hip, stride (crotch length), length from waist to floor, shoulder length, upper arm circumference, sleeve length, and back width/length to waist. It also includes a bust-ease and back-ease reference chart for common garment types, plus preparation steps using a stretch elastic and a double-sided inch tape measure to establish the natural waistline and accurate measurement posture.",{"@graph":14,"@context":72},[15,34,55],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/","Template",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/presentations/","Presentations",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/template/how-to-measure-for-successful-fitting/564338/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/how-to-measure-for-successful-fitting/564338.png","ImageObject",442,249,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Finn","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-25","2026-10-12",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":33},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",{"@type":56,"mainEntity":57},"FAQPage",[58,64,68],{"name":59,"@type":60,"acceptedAnswer":61},"What tools are recommended for taking measurements in this guide?","Question",{"text":62,"@type":63},"Use a 1-inch wide stretch elastic (Stretchrite woven polyester flat non-roll) and an inch tape measure printed on both sides.","Answer",{"name":65,"@type":60,"acceptedAnswer":66},"How should the elastic be placed before measuring?",{"text":67,"@type":63},"Cut elastic slightly longer than the waist, wrap it around the waist, pin it in place, and ask the student to position it at their natural waistline. This is the type and size of elastic that is used in most of The Sewing Workshop patterns . \n Tape Measure-Use a tape tape measure that is printed in inches on both sides and starts with the number “1” on both sides at \nopposite ends. \nPreparation \nHave the student wear something comfortable and similar to what they normally wear under their clothes. \nCut a length of elastic a few inches larger than the waist. Wrap it around the waist and pin in place. \nAsk the student to position it where it is comfortable at their natural waistline. \nNOTE: This elastic remains in place until the measuring is complete. \nMeasurement Chart \n1.
