GEORGE'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH \nWEDDING INFORMATION \nWe understand through our Catechism (outline of the faith) that Holy Matrimony is Christian marriage, in which a couple enter into a life-long union, make their vows before God and the Church, and receive the grace and blessing of God to help them fulfill their vows. This solemn and public covenant between these two persons in the presence of God. must conform to the laws of the State and the canons of the Episcopal Church. \nServices for members of the St. George’s worshipping community and persons who have been baptized or confirmed at St. George’s but who have not established another church home may beheld at the church, upon arrangement with the clergy. Our clergy stand ready to help you with the planning of services and suggestions for appropriate readings, hymns and music. All of our wedding forms, the text of the service and the recommended readings are available through the Church Office. \nAdditionally, fees for our wedding consultant, organist and other costs are outlined. Vocal or instrumental soloists may be available, if desired; our organist will assist with those arrangements and with coordinating those persons, and will advise of the remuneration for each. \nSt. George’s clergy will officiate at all services held at St. George’s Church. Guest clergy who are friends or members of the family may be invited to take part in services which are held at St. \nGeorge’s, upon consultation with the Rector. \nSt. George’s clergy may be available to officiate at services which are held at other locations, including outdoor locations. The couple should contact the clergy as soon as possible in order to make arrangements for the services. \nThen the LORD God said, \"It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper as his partner.\"...Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his wife, and they become one flesh.--Genesis 2:18, 24 \nThe ancient rite of marriage is the recognition of a covenanted relationship between two persons. Even from the Creation story, we see the gift of the covenant of marriage, as God recognized that it was not good that Adam should be alone and created a helper as his partner. In Mark's Gospel, Jesus reinforces the commitment between a married couple: \"But from the beginning of creation'God made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.\" (Mark 10:6-9, NRSV) \nA Christian marriage ceremony is the celebration and blessing of that covenant relationship, carried out in the presence of God and before at least two witnesses. The Episcopal Church requires that at least one of the parties to be married in a ceremony that will take place in one ofits churches be a baptized Christian. \nCouples wishing to be married here at St. George’s Episcopal Church will engage in a period of instruction in Christian marriage, to help them explore the meaning of loving each other as Christ loves us all. In the opening of the marriage liturgy, we acknowledge \n[t]he union of [two persons] in heart, body, and mind is intended by God for their mutual joy; for the help and comfort given one another \nin prosperity and adversity; and, when it is God's will, for the \nprocreation of children and their nurture in the knowledge and love of the Lord. Therefore marriage is not to be entered into unadvisedly \nor lightly, but reverently, deliberately, and in accordance with the \npurposes for which it was instituted by God. \nTo be ce","cbCail3GXe7ru7CO","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCail3GXe7ru7CO","pdf",441245,32,"English","# Wedding Information\n## Christian marriage requirements and covenant meaning\n## Planning services, readings, music, and clergy involvement\n## Marriage instruction and community support\n## Service liturgy: celebration and blessing","[{\"question\":\"What does Holy Matrimony mean according to St. George’s Episcopal Church?\",\"answer\":\"Holy Matrimony is Christian marriage in which a couple enters a life-long union, makes vows before God and the Church, and receives God’s grace and blessing to fulfill those vows.\"},{\"question\":\"Are there requirements for who may marry in one of St. George’s churches?\",\"answer\":\"The Episcopal Church requires at least one of the parties to be baptized as a Christian for ceremonies taking place in its churches.\"},{\"question\":\"How do couples prepare before the wedding service?\",\"answer\":\"Couples wishing to be married at St. George’s engage in a period of instruction in Christian marriage to explore the meaning of loving each other as Christ loves.\"},{\"question\":\"What happens during the marriage ceremony according to the liturgy text?\",\"answer\":\"The persons to be married assemble with witnesses, music may be sung or played, and the Celebrant addresses the congregation to witness and bless the joining in Holy Matrimony, describing the marriage covenant in God’s creation and Scripture.\"}]","Handbook for Couples - The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage - Wedding Information | PDF",1790243750]
