This is an independent contractor position.  \nThe Hair and Makeup artist will work with the hair and wig designer and makeup designer as part of the HMU crew to accomplish the designs on the chorus, supers, and principal artists of each production. The position reports to the hair/ makeup designers and may be assigned one discipline or the other. Working in both disciplines is possible. The following skills and responsibilities are needed.  \n􀁸 Handle and apply lace fronted wigs and lace facial hairpieces with industry standard adhesives.  \n􀁸 Clean wig laces and lace facial hairpieces with solvents to clean out adhesives.  \n􀁸 Block professional lace fronted wigs and lace facial hair pieces on a canvas head with pins and ribbon.  \n􀁸 Touch up hairstyles on wigs as established period hairstyles for men and women with combs, rollers, curling irons, and other styling implements.  \n􀁸 Style hair in period styles using traditional hairstyles described or established with the Hair and Makeup Designer.  \n􀁸 Apply makeup for all gender roles, including experience in character makeup, age makeup, beauty makeup, and fantasy makeup. Makeup design and colors are established by the Hair and Makeup Designer, or in communication with the Hair and Makeup Designer or Assistant Designer and the makeup artist.  \n􀁸 Organize, maintain, and inventory principal and/or chorus makeup kits, Clean and sanitary organization of the makeup kits is the responsibility of the performer under direction and supervision of the makeup crew members.  \nQualifications:  \nFlexible, focused and well‐organized team player  \nAbility to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail Ability to prioritize and multi‐task  \nRequirements: Previous experience in theatrical wigs and make up.
