Introduction \nThis guide is designed to help you make a personal injury claim on the Official Injury Claim portal. As such, it explains the key legal terms and procedures used by the legal framework that underpins this service; the RTA Small Claims Pre-Action Protocol. \nThe guide has been reviewed by senior independent legal counsel to ensure it is both comprehensive and accurate. If for any reason the guide doesn’t provide the information you require, you can contact the Portal Support Centre or seek advice \n(see [1.2.3.1](1.2.3.1)) . \n1.1 The Official Injury Claim Service \nIf you want to make a personal injury claim related to a road traffic accident (RTA), then you may be eligible to use the Official Injury Claim online service (“the portal”) . This is backed by the Ministry of Justice and handles claims of up to £5,000 for personal injury, and £10,000 when you include what are known as “other protocol damages”. These are defined as losses, costs and expenses (other than damages for injury) relating to the accident (see section 4.4) . \nIf your personal injury claim is worth more than £5,000, or your claim (including injury and other protocol damages) is worth more than £10,000, then this portal is not the right place to start your claim and you should seek advice, the cost of which may be recoverable, your adviser will explain the position on costs to you (see [1.2.3.1](1.2.3.1)) . \n[Located at](Located at www.officialinjuryclaim.org.uk)[ ](Located at www.officialinjuryclaim.org.uk)[www.officialinjuryclaim.org.uk](Located at www.officialinjuryclaim.org.uk)[ ](Located at www.officialinjuryclaim.org.uk)[the portal enables you to:](the portal enables you to:) \n• self-manage your own claim from start to finish without charge","cbCailXdmPdwKoTT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCailXdmPdwKoTT","pdf",2193541,64,"English","# Introduction\n## The Official Injury Claim Service\n## Purpose of the guide\n### What is it not for?\n### Who is it for?\n### What if your claim is over the value limits?\n# Contacts\n# Contents\n# How you can use this service\n## Requirements to make a claim\n## When you will not be able to use the portal\n## Further instructions on portal use\n## Valuation\n### Whiplash valuation\n### Non-whiplash valuation\n### What if your claim is over the value limits?\n# What you can make a claim for\n## Losses\n## Fees\n## Limitation period\n# How this service works\n## Steps in the claims process\n## Steps in the claims process (portal use, investigation, medical, offer, close)\n# Appendix\n## Tariff","[{\"question\":\"What are the value limits for using the Official Injury Claim portal?\",\"answer\":\"The portal handles claims of up to £5,000 for personal injury, and up to £10,000 when including other protocol damages.
