The pride and subsequent confidence that a graduation gives students has the power to help them find success at your career school and beyond. Taking the time to celebrate this achievement can also motivate students to complete the program faster, increase matriculation, and introduce family and friends to the program. \nAs the program coordinator or point person, you will be planning the Penn Foster HSC graduation ceremony. This checklist will make the planning process easier and ensure you have everything ready for your students’ big day. \nPlanning: First Steps \nGive yourself more time than you think. There’s a lot to get done and coordinate-you’ll appreciate having the time to get everything together. \nLogistics \n Size-One of the first things you need to determine is how big your ceremony is going to be. How many students will be celebrated in the ceremony? It can be any size-even just one student! Will the ceremony be a singular event? Or will it be held in conjunction with your career school’s graduation? \n Location-Figure out where the graduation ceremony will be held. It is important that the location is size-appropriate for how many people will be attending, in terms of both graduates and family and friends. It’s good to estimate about 3 or 4 seats per graduate to accommodate their guests. Possible places to hold the ceremony include: \n• Classroom (individual) \n• Auditorium (if holding in conjunction with college graduation ceremony) \n• Cafeteria \n• Any open area on campus where there may be seating \nParking-Make sure there will be enough empty parking spaces for all of your graduates guests at the time of the ceremony. This is especially important if it’s a big ceremony or if it’s being held in conjunction with your career college’s graduation ceremony. \nTiming-Choose a convenient day and time for the ceremony to take place. \n• We recommend holding the ceremony in the evening so friends and family can attend without work conflicts. \n• Consider if classes are in session-will the school be crowded? Will there be a lot of ambient noise? Will any class bells go off during the ceremony? \n• The ceremony will probably last around 45 minutes, though the length depends on how many students you have and how elaborate the ceremony is. \n• We suggest holding graduation ceremonies about 2 weeks before the next start period on your campus. This helps motivate \ncurrent Penn Foster students to finish the High School Completion program, creating room for the new Penn Foster students. And this ensures students can graduate from the Penn Foster program and seamlessly enroll in your school. \n2 \nPeople and Guests \n Keynote Speaker-Extend a special invitation to the person who you would like to be the keynote speaker. This could be the Campus President, Director of Education or even someone from Penn Foster. Reach out to your Partner Solutions Manager if you would like someone from Penn Foster to speak. \n Recruiter-Invite someone who can speak about the HSC program or the career programs at your school to any potential students. While this is first and foremost a celebration, you can also use it as a word-of-mouth tool to promote the program. \n Event coordinator- If your school has an event coordinator or someone that plans events for your school, make sure to speak with them. They could have some helpful tips for you, or be aware of resources that you can use. \nMaterials \n Cap and Gown \n• You can use the college’s cap and gowns for the HSC ceremony. If the school has 2 colors, the HSC students can wear the secondary color to differentiate between the two. \n• If you don’t have enough gowns for of your graduates, you can set up a cap and gown station ","cbCaitUVGQzvTcA3","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaitUVGQzvTcA3","pdf",337945,"English","# Planning: First Steps\n## Logistics\n## People and Guests\n## Materials\n# Planning: Graduation is Approaching","[{\"question\":\"How far in advance should the Penn Foster HSC graduation ceremony be scheduled?\",\"answer\":\"The guidance suggests holding graduation ceremonies about 2 weeks before the next start period on campus to motivate current students and support enrollment for new students.\"},{\"question\":\"What logistics should be decided when planning ceremony size and location?\",\"answer\":\"Plan the ceremony size by how many students will be celebrated, then choose a size-appropriate location and estimate seats (about 3–4 per graduate).
