A favourite memory for me this half-term has to be our trip to the O2 Arena with choir. This is always an enjoyable trip and it’s a privilege to be able to take such talented singers to this once-in-a-lifetime experience! \nA HUGE thankyou to Mrs Knowler for organising this incredible event, once again! \nWe have also celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week in the last few weeks, an important part of the curriculum, and continue to prioritise the happiness of our GG pupils. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue the Spring Term and to welcome our new Year 5 teacher, Miss Hurry, who will be joining us after half-term. \nI hope that all of our families have an enjoyable and restful half-term break. See you all on Monday 24th February! \nChris Butler Headteacher \nGoodbye Miss Jolly! \nIt is with great sadness that we announce that Miss Jolly has taken the decision to leave Girton Glebe. Miss Jolly has made this decision for personal reasons and has enjoyed many happy years at the school; she has contributed a great deal both as a class teacher and a valued member of our senior leadership team. She leaves us today and we are excited to welcome Gina Hurry to our GG teaching team. \nBelow is a message Miss Jolly wishes to share with you all: \n\"I have loved working and teaching at Girton Glebe and will be incredibly sad to leave the wonderful pupils, supportive colleagues and friendly parent community here. However, for personal reasons, I have decided that it is time to leave the teaching profession and pursue a career outside of education. This decision has been a long time coming and is not one I have taken lightly. I am hugely grateful to Girton Glebe and the opportunities and support that this school and the Eastern Learning Alliance has offered, particularly over the past two years. I wish the whole of the school community all the very best for the future.\" \nWe are sure you will all join us in wishing Miss Jolly the very best for her next adventure! \nYoung Voices @ The O2! \nOn Wednesday 5th February our amazing choir joined over 8,000 children from around the country to put on a fantastic concert for our friends and family at the O2 . It was a wonderful opportunity for our young children to sing as part of a large group and perform at such a stunning venue. So many famous people took to the stage to perform their talents, such as: Tommy Blaize (lead singer of the BBC Strictly Come Dancing Band); Urban Striders Street Dancers; Souparnika Nair; and MC Grammar. We sang a variety of songs including a Bob Marley Medley, Try Everything from Zootopia and an amazing Pop Medley. \nWe joined together to make the most incredible sound and sight we had ever seen in all our lives and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the old skool garage rave-up! The whole event was truly inspiring and something that the children will remember in years to come. \nA huge thank you to all of the adults who volunteered their time to accompany the children on this long day, and to Girton Town Charity for their generous donation towards the cost of the coach Fianally, a huge well done to all of the 50 pupils that performed; you were a credit to the school, you showed great talent and were wonderful company throughout the day! \nIB Update \nLast week, we were joined by Jo Sale from IVC, who delivered a CPD session to us to help us prepare for our IB Consultancy Visit. At the beginning of March, our IB Consultant Maggie, will be spending two days in school for our Consultancy Visit. During this time, she will spend time talking to SLT, teachers, children and parents about the Primary Years Programme at Girton as well as observing lessons. This visit comes halfway through our consultancy year andwill provide us with invaluable insight into what we are doing wel","cbCaimNJybjG758j","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimNJybjG758j","pdf",4554365,7,"English","# Chris Butler Headteacher Message\n## Half-Term Holidays\n## Goodbye Miss Jolly!\n## Welcome Gina Hurry\n# Young Voices @ The O2!\n## Concert Highlights\n## Thanks and Recognition\n# IB Update\n## CPD and Consultancy Visit\n# Ash Class Update\n# World Book Day Amazon Wishlist\n# Dress Up!","[{\"question\":\"When are families expected to return after the half-term break?\",\"answer\":\"Families are invited back on Monday 24th February.\"},{\"question\":\"What event did the school choir take part in at the O2 Arena?\",\"answer\":\"On Wednesday 5th February, the choir joined over 8,000 children for a Young Voices concert and performed songs together with other schools.\"},{\"question\":\"Who is leaving and who is joining the teaching team after half-term?\",\"answer\":\"Miss Jolly is leaving Girton Glebe for personal reasons, and Gina Hurry will join the GG teaching team; Miss Hurry (Year 5) is also mentioned as joining after the half-term break.\"}]","Girton Newsletter - 14th February 2025 | PDF",1789145518]
