The GCIS application has been modified to send email notifications to State and Railroad users when crossings have been successfully added or updated via the web application. Users will receive email notifications for all additions or updates successfully submitted by their own users. Additionally, State users will receive email notifications for additions or updates to public crossings submitted by railroads within their State. Railroad users will receive email notifications for additions and updates to public crossings submitted by the State. Users will receive notifications for updates made by the FRA. Users will receive one email for each crossing addition or update.  \nb. The “Update Crossings” tab has been modified to display a tool for users to review and approve corrections for Advance Warning Signs and LRS Milepost data fields for current and historical records that may have been corrupted in the GCIS database. State users will be prompted to review and verify data for public crossings; Railroad users will be prompted to review and verify data for private crossings. Please work with State and Railroad users, as necessary, to ensure these updates are completed. Users can bypass the verification grids without action, but the grids will continue to appear until the data has been verified. These updates can only be made in the web application. Please review the GCIS Data Review and Approval Instructions for more information.  \nc. The GCIS application crossing data PDFs have been modified to update the OMB expiration date on the form to 8/31/2019 .  \n2. FRA Approved API  \na. The GCIS application has been modified to send email notifications to State and Railroad users when crossings have been successfully added or updated via the GCIS API interface. Users will receive email notifications for all additions or updates successfully submitted by their own users. Additionally, State users will receive email notifications for additions or updates to public crossings submitted by railroads within their State. Railroad users will receive email notifications for additions and updates to public crossings submitted by the State. Users will receive notifications for updates made by the  \nFRA. Users will receive one email for each crossing addition or update. The application will generate one email for each crossing included in an API submission.  \n3. FRA Approved Excel Templates (used for the File Upload feature)  \na. The GCIS application has been modified to send email notifications to State and Railroad users when crossings have been successfully added or updated via the GCIS Excel spreadsheet template. Users will receive email notifications for all additions or updates successfully submitted by their own users. Additionally, State users will receive email notifications for additions or updates to public crossings made by railroads within their State. Railroad users will receive email notifications for additions and updates to public crossings submitted by the State. Users will receive notifications for updates made by the FRA. Users will receive one email for each crossing addition or update. The application will generate one email for each crossing included in an GCIS Excel spreadsheet submission.  \n4. Data Validation  \na. No modifications in the current release.  \n5. Public Website  \na. The registration page for a new GCIS account has been modified to incorporate an updated version of the reCAPTCHA utility. reCAPTCHA is used to verify that the entity requesting the account is a human and not a bot or computer.  \n6.
