Anthony Williams, Treasurer presented the draft accounts which have been prepared by professional accountants in line with audit guidelines and shared with members and posted online.\u003Cbr>First part of year still under Covid restrictions and from July 2021 Ballroom fully open and able to hold events. The total income is down on the previous year as most of the grants last year were used to fund building costs and ballroom renovation.\u003Cbr>Grant income is £238K and £118k trading income. We continue to take a cautious approach to our financial management as the economic outlook continues to be uncertain and we don’t know what grants might be available. The aim is to ensure core running cost of building is met from unrestricted activity (trading) . We strive to find a balance between income from commercial activities and funding our community activities.\u003Cbr>Question: what are the core costs of running the building?\u003Cbr>Answer: £110k pa to run the building including core staff. Our original business plan was focused on achieving funding for the ballroom renovation which has now been completed. Responding to member aspirations at last year’s AGM we are now looking at reopening our community share offer in 2023. We have been successful in receiving an ‘in principle offer’ from Co-operatives UK’s Booster Fund which includes a grant and equity match funding up to £25k on a target of £50k. Weare delighted there is a representative from Co-operatives UK in attendance today.
