required as per the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act which adopts the National Fire Code of Canada (NFC) Section 2.8. \nThe subsections under this requirement require the Fire Safety Plan to be fully implemented in regards to all aspects of this plan including training ‘Supervisory staff’, conducting fire drills, completing maintenance requirements for the listed life safety systems, etc. \nThis plan has been developed to provide managers and employees with instructions on how to safely and efficiently evacuate the building during a fire, to provide property management and supervisory staff with documentation that clearly defines their duties and responsibilities during a fire and everyday requirements as well providing a useful tool to the municipal Fire Department which is to be readily available for their use during a fire emergency. \nThe plan is required to be reviewed at intervals not greater than 12 months to ensure that it takes into account any changes in the use and/or other characteristics of the building. \nUltimately the building owner is responsible for carrying out the provisions of the National Fire Code. \nThe Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act Section 44 (4) (5), states that in the case of an offence for contravention of the fire code, an individual is liable to a fine of not more than $150,000 or imprisonment for a term of not more than two years or both and a corporation is liable to a fine of not more than $250,000 . \nThis plan is required to be prepared in cooperation with the Fire Department and other applicable regulatory authorities. Since the Fire Safety Plan is prepared as an entire document, any revisions or modifications to this document or any changes to the building that would subsequently require changes to this plan should be submitted to the municipal Fire Department for their records. \nA copy of the Fire Safety Plan is required to be retained within the building for reference by the fire department, supervisory staff and other personnel. \nBuilding Resources – Executive Summary \n\n| CONSTRUCTION | | | | | | | | | | | | |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| YEAR | | | | SIZE | | | | CONSTRUCTION | | | | |\n| OCCUPANCY/TYPE | | | | | | | WALLS | | | | | |\n| ABOVE GRADE LEVELS | | | | | | | FLOORS | | | | | |\n| BELOW GRADE LEVELS | | | | | | | EXTERIOR | | | | | |\n| ACCESS | | | | | | | | | | | | |\n| PRIMARY ACCESS | | | | | | | FIRE ROUTE | | | | | |\n| SECONDARY ACCESS | | | | | | | FSP/KEY BOX | | | | | |\n| ALTERNATE ACCESS | | | | | | | ROOF ACCESS | | | | | |\n| FIRE ALARM SYSTEM | | | | | | | | | | | | |\n| TYPE | | | | | | | FD HANDSETS | | | | | |\n| FACP/ANN: | | | | | | | VOICE COMMAND | | | | | |\n| ANNUNCIATOR | | | | | | | SMOKE CONTROL | | | | | |\n| WATER SUPPLY | | | | | | | | | | | | |\n| MAIN VALVE | | | | | | | MUNICIAPL HYDRANT |","cbCainIutI0PUytx","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainIutI0PUytx","pdf",542900,56,"English","# TABLE OF CONTENTS\n## FIRE CODE REQUIREMENTS\n## BUILDING RESOURCES – EXECUTIVE SUMMARY\n## AUDIT OF BUILDING RESOURCES\n## AUDIT OF HUMAN RESOURCES\n## RESPONSIBILITES OF SUPERVISORY STAFF\n## EMERGENCY PROCEDURES – SUPERVISORY STAFF\n## FIRE PREVENTION\n## FIRE EXTINGUISHMENT, CONTROL OR CONFINEMENT\n## ALTERNATE MEASURES\n## INSTRUCTIONS TO BE POSTED\n## FIRE DRILLS\n## MAINTENANCE OF FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY SYSTEMS\n## FLOOR PLANS\n## SUPERVISORY STAFF — APPENDIX A\n## FIRE ALARM INCIDENT REPORT — APPENDIX B\n## DISTRIBUTION AND HANDOUTS — APPENDIX C\n## CONTACT LIST — APPENDIX D","[{\"question\":\"What legal basis requires the Fire Safety Plan in this document?\",\"answer\":\"The plan is required under the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Act, which adopts the National Fire Code of Canada (NFC) Section 2.8.\"},{\"question\":\"How often must the Fire Safety Plan be reviewed?\",\"answer\":\"The document requires review at intervals not greater than 12 months to account for changes in building use and/or characteristics.\"},{\"question\":\"Who is responsible for carrying out the National Fire Code provisions?\",\"answer\":\"The building owner is ultimately responsible for carrying out the provisions of the National Fire Code.\"}]","Fire Safety Plan - Fire Safety Plan | PDF",1790100334,20]
