It opens with an introduction poem, then guides the speaker through early life, schooling and work history, marriage and family details, hobbies and community service, and curated memories from family and friends. It closes by summarizing the person’s character, core values, and the lasting impact on those left behind.","A Eulogy Template \u000b \u000b[The words in all CAPITAL LETTERS are headings. It’s called “The Dash.”\u000b\u000b'The Dash"\u000bby \u0013 HYPERLINK "https://www.linda-ellis.com/the-dash-the-dash-poem-by-linda-ellis-.html" \u0014Linda Ellis\u0015\u000b\u000bI read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.\u000bHe referred to the dates on her casket from beginning to the end.\u000bHe noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears,\u000bBut he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.\u000bFor that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth\u000bAnd now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.\u000bFor it matters not, how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash,\u000bWhat matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.\u000bSo think about this long and hard; Are there things you would like to change?\u000bFor you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged.\u000bIf we could just slow down enough to consider what is true and real\u000bAnd always try to understand the way other people feel.\u000bAnd be less quick to anger and show appreciation more\u000bAnd love the people in our lives like we have never loved before.\u000bIf we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile,\u000bRemembering that this special dash might only last a little while.\u000bSo when your eulogy is being read with your life’s actions to rehash…\u000bWould you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash?\u000b \u000bI feel like that man standing to speak. My words, like his, are about the ‘dash’ that represents ___(name)___’s life. The dash is just a tiny mark but that dash stands for a life lived well and I am honored to talk about his life today.\u000b \u000b ___(name)___ was the most giving person I’ve ever known. I see some of you nodding your heads. You know what I mean. He/she gave of him/herself freely and generously. He/she always told stories of some of the things they did at work that probably weren’t too work related but a lot of fun.
