It is necessarily general in nature, in order to cover as many agreements and contractual situations as possible. This is not a policy document, and not a substitute for a solid understanding of the applicable agreement or engagement policy. If any dispute arises between this summary document and the applicable agreement or engagement policy, the agreement or policy shall be considered the definitive version. \nIf you have any questions or are unsure about the application of any clause in any agreement or policy, please contact a Business Representative ([busrep@caea.com](busrep@caea.com)). \nWhen negotiating your next contract, here are a couple of important things to keep in mind. The standard contract form, as it comes from Equity, only covers the basics like your weekly contractual fee for example. If you’d like to negotiate something like a specific day off, or you want to make sure that any additional duties are correctly identified and paid for, then you will typically have to add these terms in a rider. A rider is an extension to the basic contract and becomes part of it once signed. \nFor many common terms, engagers may already have existing rider language that they use. If they don’t, having prepared rider text that you can submit for inclusion in the contract is anice touch. It takes some of the work off the Engager and ensures that the terms are expressed in a clear manner that is acceptable to you. We have provided sample clauses below, but please feel free to alter any to suit your circumstances. \nOther duties \nOther duties are those beyond ordinary stage management duties and responsibilities identified in the relevant Agreement or engagement policy. In many cases,“other duties” are also listed in the Agreement, but there may be additional ones that you are asked to consider. If the Agreement identifies any “prohibited” duties, these cannot be added as another duty. \nOther duties may not require additional payment if they can be accomplished within allowable work or prep hours. If they are likely to consume a lot of time, an engager may also choose to pay an additional fee to cover those duties. There is no set fee for other duties, so it is up to you to negotiate a fair one. \nCommon examples of other duties are props repair and purchasing, or laundry. The following template provides some example language to cover a range of them. \nEquity SM Committee Page 1 Amended November 23, 2020 \nIn addition to the ordinary duties and responsibilities of the position, the Artist will be required to perform the following duties. If these duties cannot be accomplished within the regular work hours and/or during the preparation hours, or if additional payment has not been specified below, then applicable overtime/additional service fees shall apply. \nInclude only those items that apply to your show: \n□ Supervision of Animals \n□ Laundry Duties \n□ Wig Maintenance \n□ Props Repair and Purchasing \n□ Running Props/Purchase and Preparation \n□ Operating and/or Maintaining Pyrotechnics and Practical Guns \n□ Company Management Duties (as permitted under the Agreement) \n□ Typing Scripts \n□ General Office Duties (as permitted under the Agreement) \n□ Other: (specify) \nThe Engager agrees to pay the Artist the additional fee of $ per week to cover the above-noted duties, to cover a maximum of hours per week. \nRunning lights, sound, video and projections \nUnder some Agreement","cbCaidmmu2rS0JZg","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaidmmu2rS0JZg","pdf",166584,6,"English","# Engagement Contract Negotiation Resource\n## Purpose and scope\n## Using a rider to add terms\n## Other duties and payment considerations\n## Sample duty checklist\n## Running lights, sound, video, and projections\n## Above and beyond negotiations","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of this resource for contract negotiations?\",\"answer\":\"The Stage Management Committee prepared the resource for members’ convenience, and it is general in nature to cover many agreement and contractual situations.
