The following is an example Emergency and Disaster Plan. If you decide to follow this template, include only the portions of the Plan that relate to your museum. Make changes as required, and remember that template documents that have not been customized to the organization are often not helpful when they are really needed. Ensure that the document you develop is current, relevant, and comprehensive enough to work for your organization.\nThis template assumes the museum is managed by a staff, has access to trained volunteers, and is governed by a Board of Directors as a not-for profit organization. The sample assumes a medium or large-sized museum and addresses some complex scenarios. This approach follows the theory that it is easier to pare down a template than it is to add to it. If the context assumed in the Plan is too complex, ensure the same plan objectives and relevant topics are dealt with adequately in a simpler document.\nReach out to your community and use the resources available to you to ensure your Emergency and Disaster Plan meets your museum’s needs.\nFor additional context, tools, case studies, and resources, see HELP!
