To support the field in strengthening talent pipelines, one element of this initiative is the development of competency maps that articulate the essential competencies (specific skills, knowledge, and relationships) for non-instructional roles in school district/network central o􀀝ces. These maps will provide the foundation for an aligned, proactive approach to developing non-instructional school district/network leaders. \nWHAT THIS MAP IS: \nThe Blueprint for Success includes seven functional competency maps (academics and instruction, advocacy, development, information and data, finance, operations, and talent) to show the knowledge, skills, and relationships necessary to manage school districts/networks. In addition to the functional competency maps, EdFuel’s Blueprint for Success provides a separate Leadership Map that covers cross-functional leadership skills. The Leadership Map should be viewed alongside each functional map to cover the full set of leadership and function-specific skills required. \nThe Finance Competency Map, developed in collaboration with school district and network finance leaders and field experts, represents the functional abilities necessary for the breadth of finance roles typically within school districts or networks. This map is not prescriptive of an ideal set of roles within the finance function. It is designed to be modular and customizable so that organizations can reconfigure the competencies described according to their own roles, titles, and structures. \nCopyright © 2015 by EdFuel. Competencies fall within these categories: \nFINANCE STRATEGY AND PLANNING \nEnsuring school district/network has a clear path toward financial viability and can sustain e􀀞ective operations in service of breakthrough results \nFINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP, COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING \nEnsuring sound financial management practices and compliance with various regulations and standards, and communicating key financial information to stakeholders \nCAPITAL FINANCE \nSecuring adequate financial resources from various sources to ensure short-and long-term financial health \nEach competency is described at four organizational levels. While organizational structures and titles will vary, the table below gives sample job titles and descriptions to illustrate the levels: \nCOMPETENCY MAP LEVEL \nIndividual \nContributor \nManager \nSenior Manager/ Director \nExecutive/ O cer \nSAMPLE JOB TITLES \nAccountant, Bookkeeper, Finance Associate, Budget Analyst \nBusiness Manager, Finance Manager Regional/Local Area Superintendent, Director of Teaching and Learning \nDirector of Finance \nChief Financial O􀀝cer \nDESCRIPTION \n• Executes finance tasks within specific, individual workstreams \n• May be focused specifically within one area of financial management (e.g., budget planning, accounts payable, accounts receivable, compliance) or may provide analysis and management support across finance departments \n• Leads a team within finance department, overseeing projects and daily activities \n• Directly responsible for management of individual contributors \n• Leads finance department or multiple teams across the department \n• Sets financial management strategy, oversees department budgets, and coordinates with other departments to incorporate organizational priorities into financial planning and budgeting \n• Financial leader of the organization and core member of leadership team \n• Leads multiple departments or teams \n• Sets strategy for organizational financial management and ensures that","cbCaifS3SvctEidq","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifS3SvctEidq","pdf",3051951,10,"English","# What this map is\n## Finance competency map scope\n# Organization of this map\n## Finance strategy and planning\n## Financial stewardship, compliance and reporting\n## Capital finance\n# Competency map levels and sample roles\n## Individual contributor\n## Manager\n## Senior manager/director\n## Executive/officer\n# Design principles that guided development of the competency maps\n## Action-oriented\n## Additive and modular\n## Anchored in the envisioned future state\n## Best in class\n## Customizable to organizations' values\n# Potential audiences and uses of the competency map","[{\"question\":\"What is the Finance Competency Map used for?\",\"answer\":\"It articulates the essential competencies for finance roles in school district or network central offices, forming a foundation for developing aligned, proactive non-instructional leadership.\"},{\"question\":\"What competency areas does the map include?\",\"answer\":\"The map covers finance strategy and planning, financial stewardship, compliance and reporting, and capital finance.\"},{\"question\":\"How are competencies structured across organizational levels?\",\"answer\":\"Each competency is described at four levels—individual contributor, manager, senior manager/director, and executive/officer—with sample job titles and descriptions to illustrate expectations.\"}]","EdFuel Finance Competency Map - May 2015 | PDF",1789345841]
