The Network supports all adult critical care services including critical care tertiary speciality services; neurosciences incorporating the major trauma centre, cardiothoracic services and burns critical care. There are also extensive transplant services and ECMO beds. We continue to work closely with key partners including excellent support and collaboration with all critical care units, key personnel within NHS England –East as well as developing key relationships with the 6 regional Integrated Care Systems. This year saw the retirement of Karen Cotton, the network lead nurse. Most of you will know Karen and i would like to thank her for all her hard work over the years. We have been fortunate to have her knowledge and expertise to draw on as well as her never ending support in championing nurses and nursing. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours. We are also extremely pleased to have welcomed Sarah Entwistle into the Network Lead Nurse role which she commenced in December 2023. I know that she will be a real asset to us all.  \nThis last year has seen another successful completion of the National Stocktake which now provides us with 3 years comparative data. A big thank you to all the units for completing and providing timely submissions. We continue to work with region and our specialised commissioners as well as continuing to forge stronger relationships with our regional Integrated Care Systems (ICS), particularly around adult critical care capacity. This coming year we will be launching and commencing our 5th round of Peer Reviews, we will be reassessing all unit positions against the Adult Critical Care Service Specification and will be carrying out a deep dive into pharmacy provision within critical care. Each review visit will comprise of the core network team for consistency, a specialised commissioner (if appropriate) or ICS commissioner or quality lead as well as expertise from a Critical Care Pharmacist.  \nMelanie Wright – East of England Adult Critical Care Network Director  \nThis has continued to be a challenging year for all units across the region. Whilst the pressures ofcovid recede into history the ongoing issues of staffing and capacity continue. The former is probably the most significant issue for most if not all units, whether in relation to medical, nursing or AHP staff. The network has worked hard to try to assist units with these issues as well as raise the issues regionally and nationally, however given the national financial picture it is perhaps not surprising that that staffing expansion is difficult.  \nA number of units continue to be markedly constrained in terms of capacity and the network has been liaising with trusts and ICBs to promote the case for increases in unit size, both at secondary and tertiary centres. What is clear across all areas of the NHS is that there was little excess capacity prior to the pandemic, and this picture continues now, which in critical care is an issue as increasing frailty of patients associated with treatment delays is meaning a greater pressure on beds. With this in mind, it is disappointing that the interest expressed in developing post anaesthetic facilities has yet to develop into bed numbers in most trusts.  \nEOECCODN Annual Report 20223-2024 2  \nIn the new round of peer reviews that are just starting as this document goes to press, we are particularly interested in understanding the pressures on pharmacy services.
