It also provides an opportunity for Level 3 and 4 FPDs to earn up to 30 continuing education units (CEUs) . Although an effective mentoring program may continue over a 2–3 year period, CEUs can be earned in six-month intervals. For additional details please see the PMCDP Mentoring Program Brochures or contact [INSERT NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION]. \nPurpose of the Mentoring Strategic Action Plan (M-SAP) \nThe mentoring program is jointly-driven by the mentor and his or her protégé, and overseen by a senior mentoring program officer. To facilitate the mentoring process, OECM has developed this Mentoring Strategic Action Plan template. This template will enable mentors and protégés to design and agree upon: \n(1) Mentoring parameters; \n(2) Short and long-term goals; and, \n(3) Developmental objectives and activities. \nThe third page of this template, the Reflection Page, should be completed at the end of a six-month formal mentoring process, and submitted to [INSERT NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION] when requesting CEUs. The Reflection Page will provide an opportunity to briefly outline protégé accomplishments, document hours mentored, share lessons learned, and provide feedback to the program office. \nMentor – Protégé Agreement \nThis plan proposes to establish a mentoring agreement between INSERT NAME, Level X FPD, INSERT SITE OFFICE NAME, as mentor for INSERT NAME, Level X FPD, INSERT SITE OFFICE NAME, asprotégé . \nThe mentor and protégé agree to participate in this mentoring relationship for a period of months, to begin on / / If a situation occurs which requires rescheduling a meeting, the protégé or mentor agrees to contact the other no less than 24 hours in advance. \nMentoring may address specific leadership competencies, professional development, or other areas of value for the protégé and organization. Other mentoring activities may include identifying plans of action, job shadowing, participating in formal training, and other developmental activities. \nAll information exchanged between the mentor and protégé will be kept strictly confidential. \nThroughout the working relationship the mentor will engage in meaningful and relevant conversations that support professional development and the protégé’s advancement in the PMCDP FPD certification program. The protégé will rely on the mentor to be honest and straightforward in asking questions and making requests. The protégé agrees to be willing to explore, experiment, and follow through on commitments during and between meetings/discussions. The protégé will incorporate feedback and lessons learned into his or her PMCDP Individual Development Plan (IDP) . If the protégé or mentor believes the mentoring is not working as desired, he or she will communicate this, and the mentor and protégé will collectively determine how to more effectively re-engage in the mentoring process. \nCommunication and interactions will include face-to-face meetings, teleconferences, emails, site visits, and participation on project review committees. These interactions will occur at a minimum frequency of once or twice per month. Formal PMCDP or other training courses will be recommended as necessary to meet the requirements for certification and continuing education. \nDOE OECM PMCDP Mentoring Program \nStrategic Action Plan Template \nEstablishing Professional Development Goals \nThis tool should guide discussions and mentoring activities.
