The position leads AI strategy execution, policy development, AI governance, and use case implementation initiatives on behalf of the City’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) .  \nThis position acts as the City’s primary artificial intelligence authority when delegated by the CIO and collaborates closely with IT leadership, departmental directors, and external partners. In addition to the Artificial Intelligence Program, this position provides leadership and oversight of the City's cloud infrastructure, application development, and business systems functions. Reports to the CIO.  \nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  \nDevelops and maintains the City’s AI strategies, policies, and standards, ensuring that all governance and operational guidance aligns with established frameworks, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) and applicable federal and Virginia state requirements. Leads the planning and execution of comprehensive AI programs based on these standards, while overseeing AI governance, risk, and compliance functions to ensure Citywide adherence to regulations, ethical principles, and best practices.  \nDirects daily AI program operations, including AI use case intake, evaluation, and prioritization; model and vendor solution assessments; and monitoring of deployed AI systems for performance, accuracy, drift, and bias.
