This guide will help ensure a smooth data entry process for your team and help you make the most of the DASL features. If you have any questions, please contact [us at](us at daslhelp@nais.org)[ daslhelp@nais.org](us at daslhelp@nais.org). \nSteps to Entering Data \nEach step below has detailed directions in the pages that follow. \n1. Decide internally how your school team will enter data. \nThis is an internal decision , no need to do anything in DASL to record this. \n2. In DASL confirm the associations to which your school belongs. \nThis step must be taken by the Head of School, Business Manager, or the person they \nhave designated. \nIt is critical you complete this step before you begin data entry, so that you see all the survey questions from all the associations to which you belong. More than 40 associations now use DASL to collect data from their members. \n3. Set the appropriate access level for each of your school’s DASL users. \nThis step must be taken by the Head of School, Business Manager, or the person they \nhave designated. \n4. Activate your DASL data entry. \nThis step must be taken by the Head of School, Business Manager, or the person they \nhave designated. \n5. Enter your data by 5 pm eastern on October 9. \nYou will have the choice of using the online form or the Excel template. \n6. Review, approve, and submit your data. \nDecide internally how your school team will enter data. \nBefore you begin entering data , it will be helpful to decide whether one person will collect and enter all of your school’s DASL data OR whether more than one person at your school will enter the data. Based on that decision, you can plan your process accordingly. See workflow tips below. \nNote: This is an internal decision at your school that can help organize your staff. You do not need to tell NAIS or indicate in DASL how you plan to enter data. \n✓ Give coordinator permissions in DASL. \n✓ Coordinator enters data. \n✓ Enter any missing data and \nmanage alerts.✓ Review and submit data. \nTemplate in Excel \n✓ Give coordinator permissionsin DASL. \n✓ Coordinator downloads Excel template and sends to team with instructions & definitions. \nNew in 2019: You can upload the template to Google Drive and share it with your team. \n✓ Coordinator fills in data in Excel template \n✓ Coordinator imports Excel file to DASL. \n✓ Enter any missing data and manage alerts.✓ Review and submit data. \n✓ Give all appropriate staff permissions in DASL. \n✓ Clearly define who is completing which categories of data. \n✓ Staff log in to DASL and enter data. \n✓ Enter any missing data and manage alerts.✓ Review and submit data. \nIn DASL confirm the associations to which your school belongs. \nThis step must be taken by the Head of School. \nDASL is being used by more than 40 independent school associations to collaborate on collecting data from their members. It is critical that you confirm the associations to which you belong so you’ll be able to see and answer ALL questions from the applicable associations. (Some participating associations will ask questions to supplement the core set. ) \n1. Go to dasl.nais.org and log in using your NAIS username and password. \n2. From the DASL home page , at the bottom of the left-hand navigation menu, you will see a list of associations to which your school is currently tied in DASL. You will also see this list on the Data Entry homepage. \n3. Refer to the list of associations participating in DASL at the end of this document. \nMissing an association? \nIf your school belongs to an association on the participating list and does not show up on your home page, email us at daslhelp@nais.org using the subject line “Missing association in DASL.” Provide your school name, city and state, and the missing association(s) . \nNot a member? \nIf you see an association to which your scho","cbCaikIj0wsnL5mK","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikIj0wsnL5mK","pdf",699085,13,"English","# Steps to Entering Data\n## Enter by Deadline and Submit\n## Template in Excel\n## Confirm Associations in DASL\n## Set Access Level for DASL Users","[{\"question\":\"What are the main steps to prepare for DASL data entry?\",\"answer\":\"The guide instructs schools to decide their internal process, confirm the associations the school belongs to, set the correct access level for each DASL user, and activate data entry before entering any data.\"},{\"question\":\"Who is responsible for confirming associations and setting access levels?\",\"answer\":\"Confirming associations and setting access level must be handled by the Head of School, Business Manager, or a designated person.\"},{\"question\":\"How can a school enter data before the deadline?\",\"answer\":\"Schools can choose the online form or use the Excel template, then review, approve, and submit the data.
