After this course, students will become more confident with writing Explicit Instruction lesson plans for the various levels and needs of special education students. They will gain experience teaching these lesson plans and be able to do so with at least an emerging level of accuracy. Students will be given opportunities to learn resilience and being open to feedback by posting videos of their teaching and be given feedback from the professor. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about other teaching approaches and identify ones that they would like to incorporate into their teaching. They will be able to write unit objectives and daily objectives along with being able to write IEP goals and PLAAFPS. This will give them the foundation to drive their instruction with their students. Students will also become more effective at adapting, accommodating, transitioning, making lesson plans, and incorporating teaching techniques. \nCourse Purpose \nBy the end of this course, students will acquire greater confidence in their teaching instruction by being given opportunities to persevere and show resilience when faced with teaching challenges, learning how to teach students with varying disabilities, and recognizing their own potential to excel as special education teachers to help build the kingdom of God and their communities. \nInstructional Approach \nIn this course, I will be using a variety of instructional strategies. Some of them include explicit instruction, direct and indirect instruction, interactive instruction, and experiential learning. My format for teaching will consist of the following along with other modalities as deemed necessary: \n Teach the concept or skill \n Model it \n Specific Practice \n Synthesized Practice (in the classroom setting) \n Feedback. \nCulminating Experience \nFinal Project: -Culminating Experience \nThe Final Project will allow you to gain experience in developing an outline of how you would prepare a subject for teaching in the special ed classroom. This assignment will bring together all that you have learned in this class, along with what you have learned in the practicum setting and will help you expand your learning and growth as a teacher. The following is the outline of this final project. We will be discussing this more in class. \n Practicum students will be divided into groups \n Each group will be given a list of hypothetical students in their classroom \n Each group will write a scope & sequence/curriculum map for a subject broken down into units and potential lesson plans. \n Students will choose one unit and then create a lesson plan related to that unit \n The lesson plan should be based on the median academic level for the whole class. The group can use any kind of teaching method they would like. \n Each practicum student will teach the lesson to a peer or a student in their practicum classroom. \n Each group will present their lesson to the Curriculum & Instruction class and share what they have learned from the project. \nCourse Schedule \nChanges in Schedule \nAlthough I will do my utmost to adhere to the published schedule, I reserve the righ","cbCaipl9HYHwEMa9","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipl9HYHwEMa9","pdf",1592063,"English","# Instructor/TA Info\n# Course Information\n## Description\n## Course Purpose\n## Instructional Approach\n## Culminating Experience\n## Course Schedule\n## Prerequisites\n## Materials\n## Grading Scale\n## Learning Outcomes\n## Grading Policy","[{\"question\":\"What is the course designed to help students do?\",\"answer\":\"The course helps students become more capable in instructing students with severe special needs using research-based strategies, including writing Explicit Instruction lesson plans across levels and needs.\"},{\"question\":\"What will students learn to produce during the course?\",\"answer\":\"Students will write standards-based PLAAFP statements, IEP and unit goals, daily lesson objectives, and assessment-based lesson plans with adaptations and technology.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the final project work?\",\"answer\":\"Students form groups, build a scope \\u0026 sequence/curriculum map by units, select one unit to create a lesson plan, and then teach that lesson to a peer or practicum student and present learnings to the class.\"}]","CPSE 453 (Gibbons) Curriculum - Instruction for Severe Disabilities (F24) - Course Information | PDF",1790093524,7]
