As President of the General Board and Chairperson of the Commissions supervising several of our departments, he was renowned for his wisdom and keen understanding of the intricacies of AME Church polity and practice always giving sage advice. We knew him as episcopate, colleague, pastor and friend. African Methodism is poorer for the loss of this giant who still had much to contribute to our Zion. \nWhile we grieve his passing, we can take comfort in the words of the Apostle Paul recorded in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14: “But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who areasleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.” We are confident that Senior Bishop Young has passed from his role in the church militant to rest in the church triumphant. \nOn behalf of the Active and Retired General Officers, our families and Departments, we extend our thoughts and prayers to you during this season of bereavement. \nIn the Lord’s Service, \nDr. Jeffery B.
