The District recognizes that consistent school attendance, academic success, and school completion have a positive correlation, and therefore has developed, and, if necessary, will revise a Comprehensive Student Attendance Policy to meet the following objectives: \na. Increase school completion for all students; \nb. Raise student achievement and close gaps in student performance; \nc. Identify attendance patterns in order to design attendance improvement efforts; \nd. Know the whereabouts of every student for safety and other reasons; \ne. Verify that individual students are complying with education laws relating to compulsory attendance; \nf. Determine the District's average daily attendance for state aid purposes. \nDescription of Strategies to Meet Objectives \nThe District may: \na. Maintain accurate record keeping via a Register of Attendance to record attendance, absence, tardiness, or early departure of each student. \nb. Utilize data analysis systems for tracking individual student attendance and individual and group trends in student attendance problems. \nc. Develop early intervention strategies to improve school attendance for all students. Administrators will: \na. Require students to attend all assigned classes and other instructional activities; \nb. Be familiar with attendance policies and procedures; \nc. Ensure that all teachers properly account for student attendance in a timely manner; \nd. Inform parent/guardian of the student’s attendance and work cooperatively to resolve attendance problems; \ne. Work with faculty and staff to implement uniform attendance procedures. \nTeachers will: \na. Take daily attendance and maintain accurate attendance records; \nb. Be familiar will all attendance procedures; \nc. Provide students who are absent with any missed assignments and a due date for submission \nd. Work cooperatively with student and parent/guardian to resolve attendance issues; \ne. Notify administration of any issues regarding a student that is affecting or may affect the students attendance. \nParents/Guardians will: \na. Ensure that the student is attending school regularly and on time; \nb. Inform the school in the event of a student absence; \nc. Provide medical documentation from a medical provider if the student has a prolonged absence; \nd. Work cooperatively with the school to resolve any attendance issues that arise; \ne. Arrange vacations and trips when school is not in session so that the student does not miss school. \nStudent will: \na. Attend all assigned classes every day that school is in session \nb. Be aware and follow the procedures when absent from school to complete missed work and assignments by the due date; \nDetermination of Excused and Unexcused Absences, Tardiness, and Early Departures \nBased upon the District's education and community needs, values, and priorities, the District has determined that absences, tardiness, and early departures will be considered excused or unexcused according to the following standards: \na. Excused: An absence, tardiness, or early departure may be excused if due to personal illness, illness or death in the family, impassable roads due to inclement weather, religious observance, quarantine, required court appearances, attendance at health clinics, approved college visits, approved cooperative work programs, military obligations, or other reasons as may be approved by the Board. \nb. Unexcused: An absence, tardiness, or early departure is considered unexcused if the reason for the lack of attendance does not fall into the above categories (e.g., family vacation, babysitting, haircut, obtaining learner's permit, road test, oversleeping) . \nA written excuse, signed by a parent/guardian should","cbCaimXDRnUYeVJv","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaimXDRnUYeVJv","pdf",92699,7,"English","# Statement of Overall Objectives\n## Strategies to Meet Objectives\n# Determination of Excused and Unexcused Absences, Tardiness, and Early Departures\n## Student Attendance Recordkeeping/Data Collection","[{\"question\":\"What are the overall objectives of Policy 7110 on student attendance?\",\"answer\":\"The policy aims to increase school completion, raise achievement and close performance gaps, identify attendance patterns for improvement efforts, ensure student whereabouts for safety, verify compliance with compulsory attendance laws, and determine average daily attendance for state aid purposes.\"},{\"question\":\"How does Policy 7110 define excused versus unexcused absences, tardiness, and early departures?\",\"answer\":\"Absences may be excused for reasons such as personal illness, illness or death in the family, impassable roads from inclement weather, religious observance, quarantine, court appearances, health clinics, approved college visits, approved work programs, military obligations, or other Board-approved reasons.
