The role manages staff in the day-to-day work to fulfill the City of Plano’s strategic communication goals. The department uses a broad variety of tools, including website, special applications, social media, e-newsletters, video, print, advertising, special events and mass notification systems to fulfill the city’s strategic communication goals. The role calls for exceptional interpersonal communication skills, adaptability to changing priorities, the ability to delegate tasks effectively, mentor staff, and a passion for continuous learning. The Communications and Community Outreach department istasked with providing strategic communications, including long-term communication initiatives that touch multiple departments and are fully integrated across all our communication  \nchannels. Designs and executes appropriate strategies to address them.  \n• Coordinates with other managers and the Director to ensure the City of Plano has a well-designed, unified, consistent and accessible website, characterized by interactive services and editorial integrity with fully integrated video streaming services according to city policy and procedure.  \n• Coordinates the distribution of consistent messages and video through the city cable television channel.  \n• Provides direction, guidance and coaching to assigned staff and manages electronic communications, publications, and media relations through assigned staff.  \n• Oversees assigned staff who develops and oversees the city’s website and all associated software.  \n• Provides direction and guidance to city-wide web content creators to align with website strategy and technology. Ensures editorial procedures are followed and enforce website  \ngovernance.  \n• Collaborates with fellow departments and the Director on needs assessments and monitor technology trends.  \n• Develops comprehensive communication strategies based on business plans by identifying and evaluating appropriate methods to reach targeted markets.
