still the start of a new one.My parents left with history, and my lifebegins with mystery. It was planned that I would become the nexus of both. \nI live in a home mostly dominated by one culture, and leave the home exposed toa new one.I ask my mom \"What's for dinner?\"expecting the same flavors.I suggestdinner ideas hoping to taste the melting pot.The distinct aroma of my home re mindsme of the scent in the home of my parents in Nigeria. When we cook,we open the doorsand windows, initiating the invasion of the airoutside. The aroma of my house meltsinto the outside. \nSometimes I feel lost as I am needed as a guide to my younger siblings; \nmeanwhile,I am still struggling to find myself in this world. The responsibility I face asthe oldest sibling has been bestowed upon me since the birth of my sister.Yet theseresponsibilities cross into the threshold of adulthood, where I could be accountable fordoing the wrong thing. \nMy teenage years are coming to an end.The start of adulthood peeks at me fromaround the corner. The weight of merits, grades and essays causes drag as I walk to thefinish line.My diploma awaits me just to give it away as a ticket to start school again. However, the obligations of a teenager that my parents have placed upon me will finally \nChe Aetu llork Cimes \n# Learning Network\n\nbe released. My body has almost finished its phase of adulting while my mind remainsthe same.I want to maintain my sanity and stay with my mind but I'm pushed towardmy body.I still hold on to both as best I can. \nBlack by skin,African by blood and American by title.Being born here, the pathsof two worlds connect to one. However, the connection with my background neverhappened until later.I've lived in all three worlds. In Chicago I lived as an African, connected with others who were of the same nationality at school and at my apartmentbuilding.Once we moved to Ohio,I was pulled into living as a Black kid.Being one ofthe few Black kids at school,I felt pushed off the mentality of an African because I hadto learn about my Black traits.I felt uncomfortable living on the edge of both worldswith people surrounding me.I didn't accept living in both worlds until a third wasprovided to me.Moving to a school of diversity connected me to all three paths, trulybecoming a nexus.I could be Black and African at once. Then I could also be Americanbecause of the diversity around me;I was on the edge of all sides.Living on the edge ofall three worlds allowed me to become me and discover my true identity --the end ofmystery and the start of my story.","cbCaip7iEab7BP3l","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaip7iEab7BP3l","pdf",141850,"English","# Essay Prompt #1\n## Story of identity across cultures\n## Navigating family expectations and adulthood\n##
