Colorado State Filing Requirements for Businesses-An Overview \nEach year, businesses operating out of Colorado must report their income taxes to the state and pay taxes to the Colorado State Department to maintain their compliance. \nBusinesses operating as a C-Corporation, S-corporation, partnership, trust, or estate in Colorado will get an automatic extension of time to file their business tax returns by filing a state extension. \nKeeping up with all the business requirements at the federal level and the state level can be overwhelming. To help business owners better understand their tax extension options and payment requirements, we created this guide! \n2. Colorado State Tax Extension Filing Requirements \nBusinesses operating in Colorado (C-Corporations, Partnerships & S-Corporation) can receive an automatic six-month extension of time to file their Colorado income tax return by filing a state extension. However, a Colorado tax extension does not grant you more time to pay your state tax. To avoid incurring late payment penalties, 90% of your net tax liability must be paid by the original deadline of your return. If no tax payment is due, no form or application for an automatic extension is required. \n2.1. Tax Extension for C-Corporation-An Overview \nCorporate income tax returns are due on the fifteenth day of the fourth month after the end of your tax year, or by April 15, for traditional calendar year filers. \nIf you are unable to file by your prescribed due date, you should file Form DR 0158-C, Extension of Time for filing Colorado C Corporation Income Tax Return. \nThis will allow you an additional six months to file your return (until October 15, for traditional calendar year filers) . While there is an extension to file, there is not an extension for making the payment. Penalty and interest are imposed if certain payment criteria are not met. \nYou are not required to mail in a CO Form DR 0158-C if you make an online payment. Be aware that a processing fee may be applied to e-check or credit card payments. \n 803-514-5155 \n [support@expressextension.com](support@expressextension.com) \n3 \n2.1.1.
