The Chemical Operator will be trained in house by the Production Manager.  \nThis position is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  \nThe Chemical Operator:  \n• Operates manual and computerized processing equipment according to company operating procedures for the production of coatings.  \n• Unloads and prepares bulk and bagged raw materials for blending or compounding materials.  \n• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shippers to rectify damages and shortages.  \n• Monitors manufacturing processes.  \n• Prepares documentation and maintains production records and equipment.  \n• Takes production samples and performs Quality Assurance testing of products for optimal production performance.  \n• Maintains inventory of materials and supplies and organizes warehouse and work area for orderliness.  \n• Operates fork lift or handtruck to accomplish shipping/receiving duties.  \n• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins.  \n• Maintains cleanliness throughout the warehouse and carries out facilities maintenance duties as needed.  \n• Assists in production and reports to the Production Manager.  \n• Foresees potential problems with production and equipment proactively.  \n• Identifies abnormal situations and resolves with assistance.  \nQualifications:  \n• High School diploma or equivalent with demonstrated math/arithmetic skills required.  \n• Relevant production experience is preferred.  \n• Ability to operate processing equipment and computerized control equipment with working knowledge of understanding protocol and procedures.  \n• Must be able communicate written and orally effectively.  \n• Must be able to lift 50+ pounds unassisted, pull up to 20 pounds, work at elevated heights and in confined spaces, and climb stairs.
