and extend the useful-ness of the compilation.Inquiries,suggestions and comments on all details ofthe Catalog are solicited,and should be addressed to the Chief _of_the CatalogingDivision,Copyright Office,Library of Congress,Washington 25,D.C.  \nCONTENTS.This part of the Catalog of Copyright Entries contains an al-phabetical list of motion pictures registered in Class L,motion-picture photo-plays,and Class M,motion pictures other then photoplays,which wereregistered in the Copyright Office from January 1,1947,through June 30,1947.Renewal registrations in these classes made in this period arelisted in Part 14A of the Catalog.  \nARRANGEMENT.The main section of this catalog consists of completeentries by title for all motion pictures(Classes L and M)arranged in one alpha-bet.It is followed by an index of copyright claimants of the motion pictureslisted,together with the authors and titles of such published literary works asare given as sources for certain motion pictures.  \nENTRY.After the title of each motion picture there is given a descriptionof the film,based on information found in the press books,synopses,cuttingcontinuities,etc.,which accompanied the films,verified insofar as possible bycomparison with the films themselves.The description includes the productionstatement,the date of release,and the physical characteristics of the film it-self—namely,number of reels or running time,width in millimeters,abbrevia-tions indicating whether it is a sound or silent film,and whether it is in black andwhite or in color.For certain photoplaysand short subjects,additional informationis given in regard to the series to which the individual picture belongs,the lit,-erary work upon which the motion picture was based,and the leading credits\"and actors.  \nCOPYRIGHT DATA.The statement giving the copyright facts about the mo-tion picture is preceded by the Copyright symbol◎.For published motion picturesthe statement gives the name of the claimant,the date of publication as definedin the Copyright Act,and the registration number.For unpublished motion pic-tures,the statement gives the name of the claimant,the date of the receipt inthe Copyright Office of the title,description,and representative prints takenfrom the motion picture,and thé registration number.The letters\"P\"and\"U\"following the class letter Lor M indicate whether the motion picture is,respectively,published or unpublished.  \nDEPOSIT OF COPIES.In the case of every copyright entry listed in thecatalog,the deposit of copies(or copy)as required by the Act of Congress ofJuly 30,1947(Title 17,U.S.C.,secs.12,13)has been made.  \nAUTHORITY.The Catalog of Copyright Entries is published pursuant tothe authority given in the provisions of Sections 210 and 211 of the aforesaidAct.Section 210 provides that the Catalog\"shall be admitted in any court as  \n(III)  \nprima facie evidence of the facts stated therein as regards any copyright regis-tration.99
